Top10 Breeds Hold steady teady For the 20 th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever is the most popular dog breed, according to the American Kennel Club. in fact, this year’s top 10 Breeds are the same as last year’s, but in a slightly different order.

#6 the he Beagle moved up to fourth spot this year, swapping BULLDOG spots with the Golden Retriever. Boxers and Bulldogs also changed spots, with Boxers dropping to seventh, while the Bulldog moved up to sixth. the Bulldog’s ranking has been growing for the past decade; it was ranked 21st in 2000. the French Bulldog’s growing popularity moved it from 71st to 21st since 2000, a remarkable jump. the AKC’s breed list is based only on dogs registered with the organization, and not all purebred dogs in the U.S. there are no stats available for the #1 most popular breeds in Canada.
