VORWORT / PREAMBLE Wer an Seifenkisten denkt, sieht meistens eine Kiste der Bauart Formel JUNIOR, die Einsteigerklasse für Fahrer von 8 - 12 Jahren, des Deutschen Seifenkisten Derby e.V. vor Augen. Der Klassiker schlechthin auf fast jedem Seifenkistenrennen in Europa und USA. Gegründet 1973 in Frankfurt/Main verschrieb sich der DSKD e.V. der Regulation des Seifenkistensports in Deutschland. Der erste Prototyp der JUNIOR Klasse wurde 1983 gebaut und 1984 in einer feierlichen Präsentation in Frankfurt-Kelsterbach als Einsteigerklasse vorgestellt. Die bis dahin seit 1948 bestehende Seifenkistenbauart für Kinder zwischen 10 und 15 Jahren wurde in SENIOR Klasse umbenannt. Von Anfang an ging es dem Verein darum, Seifenkistenrennen mit Fahrzeugen nach strengem Reglement und Chancengleichheit für alle zu veranstalten. Bis heute finden alljährlich Deutsche- und Europameisterschaften unter der Regie des DSKD e.V. statt. Der vorliegende Plan soll den Seifenkistenbauer dabei unterstützen, eine regelkonforme Seifenkiste auf die Räder zu stellen. Alle weiteren Bauteile wie Achsen, Räder, Lenk- und Bremseinheit gibt es unter www.dskd.org. Doch nun genug der Rede, ab in die Werkstatt und bauen. Viel Spaß und Erfolg wünscht Peter Macho
When you think of soap box racing, you probably envisage a soap box like those used in Formula JUNIOR, the beginners' class for drivers aged 8 - 12 years in the German Soap Box Derby Association e.V., or "DSKD" in German. This undoubted design classic can be found in almost every soap box race in Europe and in the USA. The DSKD, which was founded in 1973 in Frankfurt-am-Main, is responsible for regulation soap box racing in Germany. The first prototype in the JUNIOR class was built in 1983, and launched as a beginners' class at a special event held in Kelsterbach, near Frankfurt, in 1984. The existing soap box design, which had been around since 1948 and was aimed at slightly older children between 10 and 15 years, was renamed the SENIOR class. Right from the start, the aim of the association was to organize soap box races with vehicles that were built according to strict regulations to ensure that all racers had the same chances of winning. Right up to the present day, German and European championship events governed by the DSKD have taken place every year. This plan is intended to support soap box builders in putting together a soap box that conforms with the regulations. BAUVORSCHRIFT DSKD / CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS DSKD Der vorliegende Bauplan entspricht den Abmessungen der Junior Seifenkiste nach dem Reglement des DSKD e.V. Die Konstruktion besteht aus Bug- und Heckaussteifung, Seitenteilen und Deckplatte mit Einstieg. Verwendet werden dürfen ausschließlich Holz- oder Holzwerkstoff und Kunststoffspachtelmaterial. Spanplatten sind wegen der Gefahr des Splitterns nicht gestattet. Folgende Hauptmaße müssen eingehalten werden: Länge 2050 mm, Breite 330 - 450 mm, Höhe 350 - 435 mm, Achsenbreite 890 mm. Die Bodenplatte muss aus einer durchgehenden Platte mit Mindestdicke von 25 mm, bestehen. Zum Schutz beim Einstieg muss eine Polsterung an der Einstiegsöffnung verwendet werden. Die notwendigen Original DSKD Achsen, Räder, Lenk- und Bremseinheit erhalten Sie unter www.dskd.org. Beachten Sie bitte unbedingt die dort abgedruckten Vorschriften des Reglements.
The measurements used in this blueprint conform to those used in the JUNIOR soap box as specified in the DSKD regulations. The construction features bracing sections at the front and rear, side sections and a top cover with an access opening. Only wood or wood-based materials and plastic filler can be used. Chipboard is not allowed because of the risk of shattering. The following core dimensions must be adhered to: length 2,050 mm; width 330 - 450 mm; height 350-435 mm; track (axle width) 890 mm. The floor panel must consist of a continuous panel with a minimum thickness of 25mm. For safety reasons, padding must be used around the access opening. The required original DSKD axles, wheels, steering and brakes can be obtained from www.dskd.org. Please pay close attention to the specifications as set out in the regulations as they must be strictly adhered to.

Bei den in den Stücklisten angegebenen Materialien handelt es sich um Empfehlungen. Sie können entsprechend dem Reglement der DSKD e.V. andere Materialien verwenden, falls dies zugelassen ist. Welche Verbindungsart Sie verwenden (Holzleim, Heißkleber, Schrauben oder anderes) liegt in Ihrem Ermessen. Wichtig ist, dass alle Verbindungen stabil sind und bleiben. It´s up to you which type of connection (Wood clue, hot clue or screws) you use. It is important that all connections are stable and constant quality.

Überprüfen Sie während jeder Bauphase die Sitzposition des Fahrers. Check during each construction phase the driver seating position.

Überprüfen Sie die Konstruktion. Wir können keine Funktionsgarantie auf die Umsetzung dieses Bauplans geben. Check the construction. We can give no performance guarantee on the implementation of this construction plan.

FUNKTIONSPRÜFUNG / FUNCTIONAL CHECK 1.
Achten Sie darauf, dass wichtige Teile wie Lenkung und Bremsanlage, sich leicht bedienen lassen und nicht blockiert werden können. Make sure that important parts such as the steering and brakes are easy to operate and not be blocked.

Bei vollem Lenkeinschlag dürfen die Räder kein Teil der Karosserie berühren. At full steering angle, the wheels may not touch any part of the body

Achten Sie darauf, dass Schraubverbindungen sich nicht lösen können. Verwenden Sie, wenn möglich selbstsichernde Muttern. Make sure all screws from becoming loose. If possible, use self-locking nuts.
4.
Achten Sie darauf das Seilspanner gesichert werden müssen. Verwenden Sie hier am besten Kabelbinder. Make sure the cable tensioner must be secured. Use cable tie.
5.
Achten Sie immer auf die Sicherheit des Fahrers und der Zuschauer. Always pay attention to the safety of the driver and the viewer.
TIPPS UND TRICKS / TIPS AND TRICKS 1.
Hinter dem Fahrer können Zusatzgewichte untergebracht werden, die notwendig sind, um das zulässige Gesamtgewicht zu erreichen. Sichern Sie diese gegen verrutschen. Behind the driver additional weights can be accommodated which are necessary to achieve the maximum weight. Secure them against slipping

Falls Luftreifen verwendet werden, sollten diese vor dem Start auf den maximal möglichen Druck aufgepumpt werden. If you use pneumatic tires this should be inflated before starting on the maximum possible pressure

Die Kugellager der Räder sind normalerweise mit Fett gefüllt. Waschen Sie diese mit Benzin aus und verwenden Sie Öl für die Lager. The ball bearings of the wheels are usually filled with fat. Wash out this with petrol and use oil for the bearings

ÜBER DEN AUTOR / ABOUT THE AUTHOR PETER MACHO, geboren am 17. April 1959 in Bad Homburg, arbeitet als CAD-Konstrukteur und IT-Dienstleister. 2005 konstruierte und baute er seine erste Seifenkiste - einen Ferrari. Seither lässt ihn dieses Hobby nicht mehr los. Es wurden unzählige Seifenkisten gebaut und viele Rennen mit seinen beiden Söhnen gefahren. Er gehört zum Veranstaltungsteam des alljährlich stattfindenden Spaßkistenrennens in Oberursel. Er ist verheiratet und lebt in Oberursel. Die Konstruktionszeichnungen wurden zu Bauanleitungen zusammengefasst und teilweise veröffentlicht. In seinem Blog www.orschelerseifenkistenrennen.de berichtet er regelmäßig über Rennen sowie verwandte Themen. PETER MACHO, born on April 17, 1959 in Bad Homburg, working as a CAD Designer and IT Service Provider. 2005 he designed and built his first soapbox - a Ferrari. Since then, no longer lets go of this hobby. He built countless soapboxes and drove many races with his two sons. He belongs to the events team held annually fun crate race in Oberursel. He is married and lives in Oberursel. The design drawings were combined into blueprints and partially published. In his blog www.orschelerseifenkistenrennen.de he regularly reports on race and related issues.
