Von Anfang an ging es den Gründern der Marke um die Durchsetzung neuer Gestaltungsprinzipien, die das Möbel als Ausdrucksmittel des „guten Geschmacks“ interpretieren – allerdings ohne dogmatische Bevormundung. Jedes Modell gleicht einem Kunstwerk, das sein Schöpfer, der Designer, mit äußerster Liebe zum Detail ausgearbeitet hat. Die eigenständigen, oftmals puristisch gehaltenen Optiken gehen einher mit einer perfekten handwerklichen Verarbeitungsqualität. Qualität, die man nicht nur sehen, sondern spüren kann. Oft reicht schon eine leichte Berührung mit den Fingerspitzen, um sich von der Wertigkeit der eingesetzten Materialien zu überzeugen. For over 100 years, WK WOHNEN has embodied a very special design claim. It is no coincidence that the WK Group was first named the „Deutsche Werkstätten für Wohnkunst“ – the „German Workshops for the Art of Living“. From the beginning, the founders of the brand wanted to implement new design principles that interpreted furniture as the expression of „good taste“ – in other words, free from dogmatic paternalism. Every single item is like a work of art that its creator, the designer, has created with a total passion for detail. WK WOHNEN has been a firm fixture in interior design for over 100 years. In the early years, the developers focused on the excellent quality of materials and the functionality of the furniture; by the end of the 1920s the desire for formal independence had become equally important. It is both a privilege and a challenge to be able to continue writing the story of this great brand’s success year after year. The avant garde design principles of the Bauhaus, which was founded in 1919, had a fundamental effect on the design perception of classic Modernism.
