Recently we held a Casual for a Cause day, where employees donate $5 each for the opportunity to “dress down”, with all proceeds being donated to Clean Ocean Access. Their vision is a healthy ocean that is free of marine debris with water that is safe for all ocean activities and a shoreline that is accessible to the public. We also supported this initiative by giving each of our employees a reusable straw.
Dear People’s Credit Union, The beach cleanup this past weekend was a huge success with 73 volunteers removing 198 pounds of debris from Easton’s Beach! People’s sponsors Movies on the Beach to support North Kingstown Chamber Charitable Foundation People’s Credit Union was happy to once again be an Executive Producer sponsor of the North Kingstown Chamber Charitable Foundation’s Movies on the Beach on August 10th and 24th at the North Kingstown Town Beach. Our employees were on hand for each movie night to say hello and give away glow sticks, water bottles, and frisbees. The NKCCF provides support for the NK Food Pantry, LINKS Program, scholarship support, and community projects to benefit residents and businesses of North Kingstown.
Employee Spotlight Edward T. Lopes, Jr. Vice Chair, Board of Directors Mr. Lopes is employed by Balfour Beatty Communities as the Vice President of Development for their Navy military housing project portfolio. He is a former member of the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission, is a member of the Portsmouth Rhode Island Planning Board, and a member of the Providence Engineering Society. Mr. Lopes is also a licensed Real Estate Broker and Contractor in the State of Rhode Island and is a Board Member of a regional defense industry association. Mr. Lopes was the former Board Chair (2015-2016) of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as a member on their Government Affairs Committee.
Ben Tallman Facilities Manager Ben Tallman has been the Facilities Manager at People’s Credit Union for three years. The Facilities Department at People’s handles just about everything our properties need, from mail sorting and delivery, to overseeing large capital projects and budgets. Ben has over 20 years of facilities and carpentry experience, having held jobs across all facets of the industry, as well as managed multiple properties across the Northeast. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Ali and three children – Colton, Connor, and Charlie. His hobbies include woodworking, motorcycles, trying new micro-breweries, and is a huge fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.. Ben also happens to be the owner of Pudge, People’s Credit Union’s official mascot!
Pudge’s Corner! One thing all People’s Credit Union employees have in common is a love of animals and no organization that cares so much about furry friends would be complete without a mascot. Our official mascot Pudge, an English Bulldog, has quickly become a member of the People’s Credit Union family. You can often find Pudge roaming the halls of our office in Middletown, usually seen following around our President and CEO, Ellen Ford, as she conducts important credit union business. This Fall, Pudge will take his roaming outside of our offices and will be traveling all over the state. Keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to follow Pudge’s travels wherever they may take him!
