King Edward I ruled from 1272-1307 so these Silver Pennies are about 700 years old. These were the largest denomination struck at the time. Edward I was the first monarch to introduce the Halfpenny and Farthing denominations. You have the facing portrait of the King with long flowing hair on one side and a cross with the name of the town where it was struck on the other.
