Welcome to the 2nd sale of Mutrie Farms & Bar H Charolais with the addition of some very good Shorthorn bulls from Jodi Hawken. These area breeders have put forth another good set of two year old and yearling bulls again with the top end providing some breeder quality bulls this year. Mutrie Farms showed at Agribition last fall and looked good out there. All of these operations have utilized the best in genetics in building their programs over the years. They have utilized AI and top herdbulls to make their herds better and all have had commercial cows so know what the industry needs. The bulls are not over conditioned so they will get out and go to work without melting down in pasture. There is something for everyone here from calving ease bulls to performance bulls, white to red factor and now with the option of adding the British influence in your cowherd with the Shorthorn bulls. If you have never seen the calves from the Shorthorn Charolais cross, you need to. This cross has been a favorite of mine since growing up and seeing it in our own commercial herd in the 1960s. The market looks very positive for the future, so take advantage of the market by producing the best calves you can. Buying quality bulls will always pay with the top cut calves that top the market. I would like to thank Richard for asking us to be a part of this sale. Shorthorns have been a part of our herd in some capacity since my grandpa. He really enjoyed both the temperament and milk they brought to the commercial cow. I followed in those footsteps and started my herd with 1 cow. I now have 30 purebreds of which I breed the very top end to top end bulls. The remainder make excellent cross bred calves. Only the best bull calves are kept as bulls. We have searched for top genetics that add both muscle and thickness to our purebred and commercial calves. The sire of all of this year's bulls did both of these very well and added excellent temperament to all his calves. This is the best pen of bulls we have ever had. Please feel free to come see the bulls prior to the sale. You can also tour the commercial calves from the same genetics and see how well the cross has worked. Able has been on the radar since birth. He was impressive since birth and continues to impress those who walk in the pen. He puts it all together in a very nice package.
Arius was to be shown at Agribition but paperwork was delayed. He is the thickest bull of the bunch and has great disposition.

Ace was in our Agribition show string this fall. He stood 3rd in a very strong class. We used his full brother on the heifers last year and are very impressed with the calves on the ground. He is a younger bull but has a lot of drive to breed.

He was Reserve Junior Bull Calf Champion. We had intended to use him last year but he got hurt while yearling bulls were riding before breeding season. He has fully healed and bred a limited few last last summer. He is a moderate framed bull that will work well on heifers.

Terms & Conditions: Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes:Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. Sale Manager: By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
