Breeder quality with customer satisfaction is what makes an event grow and prosper or go the other way! From a small plan by Merv Schmidt (Belmont Charolais) thirteen years ago, “Best of the Breeds” has become a supply centre for five breeds and a “must attend” source for genetic quality... this fact is proven by the demand of many repeat customers over the past twelve years. At the onset, the plan was to supply local area livestock producers; but the plan altered, as customers have selected bulls nationwide! This group of breeders come together with one common goal.... produce and supply the finest genetics possible for their customers to profit by. The mix of breeds is ideal as they are the tools for successful cross-breeding. The powerful performance of the continental breeds mated to the British breed with high maternal and calving traits is the ideal combination for the producer, the sale barn, the packer and Mrs. Consumer. After touring the herds, we are excited about this powerful yet diverse offering of sires. Several breeder quality bulls will headline this event in addition to a strong group of ranch bulls with hair, shape and testicles.... ready to get the job done. Feel free to visit any of the herds and preview the bulls in their own environment where you can see the mothers or call any of these progressive breeders and they can answer any queries you might have. The bulls will be available for viewing on Saturday, the day prior. Stetson is a great example of a meat machine. He is soft made, stout, athletic and correct. You can’t beat his temperament or that thick haircoat he has. His sire topped Sparrow’s sale and we purchased his mother from Horseshoe E – a high seller from the Sterling! The Escobar sons are very consistent and the daughters are going to outshine the sons. Moderate birth weight with explosive performance. Stetson will leave an imprint on the breed before he is done. You can put on a lot of miles to find a bull like this. Check him out!

Chrome is everything we were hoping for when we used PCC Rome. He is long, smooth, soft made, correct and very quiet. 604D is the son of the reigning Agribition Grand Champion Bull PCC Rome 437D. This young herd bull is patterned just like his sire. Impressive to say the least. Everything on the check list of a future herd bull fits 604D. Great feet and legs, character head, big set of testicles.Exceptional disposition. He comes from a superior cow family. His mother 515R was high selling female in the Sterling as a bred heifer. Arguably the best female produced that year at Perrot Martin Charolais. She then produced HBC IKEA 220Z, the mother of HBC G2, the high selling Ledger son from 2015. G2 produced the second high selling heifer calf from the 2016 Sterling Sale to Hopewell Charolais. Genetic power is built into this great young prospect!

Hercules was in our show string at Agribition last fall. He is moderate, thick, correct and extremely quiet. Turton sires moderate framed cattle that pound down the scales with their length of body. This guy looks like he has an extra rib! His mother is a fantastic female that Justin showed successfully through 4-H and then in CCYA at Yorkton. She is a cow we will have in the herd for a long time. Her 2017G2 bull calf already has that look!

Cooper is my pick of the Friar Tuck sons. He is correct, sound, deep, soft made and has that herd bull look to him. His 14 year old mother did a great job on him. A maternal brother sold to Brimner Charolais a few years back. Lots of potential here.

Zeplin has a ton of hair and tremendous performance. He will add pounds to your calf crop without giving up calving ease. His length of body balances well with his good foot and leg structure.

This low birth weight Roundup son is typical of what Roundup can do. Extreme hair, long, smooth, a real calving ease bull with plenty of performance.

618D is as smooth as they come. He will calve like a dream. Smooth and correct, no worries here. KCM 442 has done it again. Last year’s calf topped our sale to Whitecap Charolais. She is still going strong at 13 years old. A problem-free cow with fertility and production built in.
