Bad Blood Nationalists on both Sides poison Relationship / Exports to Haiti for one Bilion Dollars

After the hurricane „Matthew“, which brought death and devastation across the south-west of the neighboring country of Haiti, the Dominican government decided immediately to provide humanitarian aid to those affected. Dominican President Danilo Medina traveled to Haiti in order to express his solidarity with the Haitian people by visiting the Haitian interim president Jocelerme Privert. But the willingness of the Dominican people to help was not well received in the nationalist circles of Haiti, from whom it is certainly not known that they ever have been supporting the poorest of their own people. They promptly accused the Dominican Republic of bringing supplies and

materials to Haiti, which are on a list for import bans, in order to avoid checks. In particular, some of the senators of Haiti were struck by the fact that the convoy of Dominican aid was accompanied by Dominican soldiers to avoid looting. They urged the Dominican government to withdraw these soldiers from Haiti within 24 hours. Which then happened. With the expected result that part of the aid was plundered, trucks were stolen and Dominican personnel were attacked. Interim president Privert apologized to the Dominican Republic for the behavior of these senators, which was a shame for the country. This, in turn, brought him anger with the Supreme Court of Haiti, which now requires his destitution as president to secure the national sovereignty of Haiti, which he supposedly had endangered by the permission of the presence of Dominican troops. In addition, Privert was accused by the court of trying to stay in power with maneuvers and thus was endangering Haitian democracy through the postponement of the elections, which on the 9th of October again had to be canceled due to „Matthew“.

The call for the withdrawal of the Dominican uniformed soldiers from Haiti led to an outcry of indignation in parts of the Dominican press. And, as usual, Vinicio „Vinicito“ Castillo Semán, leader of the nationalist FNP, agitated in the social networks with pithy sayings: „The strategy of the ruling Haitian elite is to recapture the Dominican Republic with a peaceful invasion and through their pregnant women. That is clear. The ruling Haitian elite does not care about the misery of its own people. What interests them is to send these hungry people to the Dominican Republic.“ Temístocles Montás, Minister of Industry and Trade, said, trade is a fundamental pillar of Dominican-Haitian relations. In 2015, goods worth 1.012 billion dollars were exported to Haiti. In the first half of the year, this figure was somewhat lower at 411 million dollars. Main export items are raw materials for Haitian textile manufacturing, cement, flour, plastic articles and wire. From Haiti, there primarily are imported articles for fishing, tobacco and machinery accessories.

Hunger “moderate” Situation has improved since 2000 / Juvenile Offenders In the developing countries, hunger has declined by 29 percent since the year 2000, according to the World Hunger Index. But still 795 million people are hungry worldwide. In 50 countries, hunger is “alarming”. In Latin America, the situation in Guatemala is “serious”, one step below “alarming”. In the Dominican Republic, the situation is “moderate” alongside El Salvador, Honduas, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Paraguay. In the remaining Latin American countries it is “low”. The World Hunger index takes into account four parameters for the creation of the rating: the proportion of the population that does not consume enough calories, children with less weight than normal for their age, children under five years who are smaller than normal, as well as the child mortality rate. Progress in the fight against hunger is not uniform, and even within some countries there are great differences. In order to eradicate hunger by 2030, the critical zones and the most affected groups will have to be identified and supported.

The "Alerta Joven" project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) gave the alarm as there are about 600,000 young people in the country who are in danger of becoming criminal. This figure is based on two studies that investigated the reasons why more than 200 adolescents came into conflict with the law. Both studies show that most of the affected persons already showed risk behavior at very young age and mostly did not receive the necessary attention. In the first study with 250 persons with an average age of 16 years, 93 percent were male. The average age at which the school was abandoned was 13 years. In 174 cases, the youths stole to obtain alcohol or illegal drugs. In the second study, with 243 people of the same age, it was found that adolescents who have a cognitive deficit and are not properly treated have a great risk to come into conflict with the law. These cognitive deficits can lead to school leaving, little selfconfidence and rejection in the family.

Plane Crash On the evening of the 17th of October, a small aircraft, which started in Port-auPrince, fell into the Atlantic just before landing at the airport of Puerto Plata. The next morning parts of the plane were found, but the passengers, the owner of the “Monkey Jungle” in Sosúa, El Choco, Chuck Ritzen and his wife Candy, as well as a Canadian citizen, were missing without a trace. The reason for the crash was probably the bad weather. According to reports, Chuck Ritzen was on his way back from a relief mission to the disaster area of Jérémie, where he delivered more than a ton of food, oil for cooking, and other supplies to those affected by the hurricane. Chuck Ritzen had a successful construction firm in Nashville Tennesee, before he settled down in the Dominican Republic a few years ago. Chuck and Candy Ritzen were founders of “Monkey Jungle” and Zip Line Adventures, a tourist attraction in Sosúa, El Choco, that uses its profits to fund free dental and medical clinics for indigent patients there. Likewise, Ritzen regularly donated medicines to various institutions in the region, which were distributed free of charge to the needy. Since 2009, the dental clinic has seen more than 21,000 medical and dental patients. The clinic was expanded in 2013 with help from Live Different.

Hunger and Destruction Dominican Aid Convoy brings Relief / Protest against Presence of uniformed Soldiers

Unfortunately, the number of 15 dead in Haiti by Hurricane “Matthew”, which was known at the editorial deadline of the last issue of LA PLAYA, was miles away from the real numbers known afterwards. Official figures of the Haitian government talk about 450 dead, unofficial sources say it is twice as many. And presumably there are still a lot more to come, since the only half-controlled cholera now can spread freely due to the polluted water. Through the high winds of up to 220 kilometers per hour, and the torrential rains that destroyed everything that stood in the

way, Haiti once again is facing hunger and disaster. In the south-west of the country the living areas are destroyed, the harvest is completely destroyed. Already on the second day after the hurricane, people complained, especially in the remote villages, that there was nothing left to eat. On the question that there are already seen international relief campaigns in the media, those affected said, yes, in the larger localities. There food was distributed to the local councilors of the smaller villages, but they would not give it to the needy and kept the donations for their families or sold them. The Dominican Republic was again among the first countries to bring help to the devastated region. The Dominican government sent 500 trucks with food and other supplies plus staff to help repair the destroyed infrastructure, from damaged roads to power supply. Armed and uniformed Dominican soldiers accompanied the convoy in order to prevent possible pillaging of aid. As a result, some Haitian senators protested against the

Dominican soldiers and ordered that they had to leave Haiti within 24 hours, as their presence offended the pride and dignity of the Haitian people. This was welcome water on the mills of the Dominican rightists, who once again saw it confirmed that the Haitians were nothing else but ungrateful people. And bygone history also had to be reminded once again: “The Haitian senators forget that they were the ones who occupied the Dominican Republic in 1822 and tried six more times (1844 to 1856) to occupy our country.”

Vaccine against Dengue Dengvaxia “historic” Success / 22,000 Deaths every Year According to the Colombian expert Carlos Molina, the vaccine against Dengue fever, developed by the French drug company Sanofi Pasteur in 20 years, will help to significantly reduce the costs of the healthcare system of the most affected countries. It is a “historic” success that there is now finally a vaccine, which protects 65.6 percent against Dengue. According to Molina, the serum “Dengvaxia” can be used in people between nine and 45 years.

This could prevent two out of three Dengue cases, eight out of ten hospitalizations due to Dengue, and nine out of ten cases of hemorrhagic Dengue. Every year, about half a million people get sick of this severe progression of Dengue, 22,000 of them die. Overall, between 50 and 100 million people get infected from Dengue each year. “Dengvaxia” has so far been approved in eleven countries. The advisory group SAGE of the World Health Organization advised to include this vaccine in the immunization programs in countries where Dengue is very endemic. In addition to Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika which are also transmitted by the same mosquito, the tiger mosquito (Aedes aegypti), meanwhile also the Mayaro virus, which originates from South America and has similar symptoms as the other three diseases, has arrived here. It is also transmitted by the tiger mosquito.

Your Horoscope for November 2016 Capricorn feels confident / Cancer able to implement Projects / Changes at Work for Taurus

This month will be an incredibly bright and active time at work, so “work hard” from the very first days of the month. In principle, this point is unlikely to be something out of the ordinary, so you should stay positive. In relations with your colleagues, try to be as neutral as possible. People will try to pull you into some backroom intrigues which have nothing to do with you. Try to look at the world from a different perspective.

Work may not be too dynamic, but uniquely effective. No out of the ordinary events are expected. The situation will not be so easy and it's possible that once or twice you could regret paying too little attention to urgent problems. Be careful, you do not need to put forth excessive effort, and no special resources will be required from you, but note one simple fact: now your main opponents will have serious advantages.

Try to define the priorities of your work as closely as possible, and even if this seems to be too simple of a task, you should still give it enough attention. In any situation you can find a “loophole” that can “shuffle your cards” in the long run. But it will be sufficient to stay focused and unbiased and under no circumstances adopt wishful thinking. If you do everything right, you will achieve the intended results.

Some changes will await you at your work. How significant these metamorphoses will be is a different question, and you'll have to try hard to respond to it. Under no circumstance should you put your responsibilities on others, especially if you are one of the so-called “bosses”. In order to succeed, you'll need to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty a little bit. Prepare to be ready for new opportunities.

There is a time for all things. And although it is too early to talk about the completion of all the current projects, it's foolish not to mention that you're extremely close to this line, which means you need to increase your concentration and focus on priorities. Now the dynamics of the working area will be particularly high, but it will neither knock you off balance and nor take you by surprise, you will be ready for it in full.

You will be able to implement any projects and reach any heights, but with a few caveats. Firstly, you will need to consistently and scrupulously “sift” through all the events through the prism of your current capabilities. In the sense that, unfortunately, there will be more than enough scenarios at the current stage, but not every one of them you will be able to use with regard to your actual position.

In business and entrepreneurship you will be able to achieve the desired results. The main thing now is not to shut down, even though the temptation to do so will be extremely large; because of the increase of the dynamics in your performance, you are quite likely to face some problems of personal character. Under no circumstance should you give in to your emotions and momentary impulses.

This month may be not as productive as hoped. But it is also necessary to point out one simple fact: if you have something that does not work, do not blame the stars or other circumstances. Often external factors do have a strong influence on us, from time to time they can be decisive. But more often the culprit is our own folly, ignorance and even outright stupidity. Don't blame others for your own mistakes.

This may be a restless time, but it will be relatively productive. First of all, you should immediately tune in to the fact that all the tasks you normally perform, you will be unable to do now. You will have to behave like a meek lamb, because any action at all can attract the attention of your enemies, and you simply will not be able to handle them at this time. The temptation to begin to take action will be great, but be patient.

Finally you will be able to realize your full potential. And it is important to consider a few things. First, in any case, do not be discouraged something doesn't work out. Take your time, regroup your strength again and move forward to victory, because, in the end everything will work out to your advantage. Success is guaranteed, and even the most daring expectations will be met spectacularly.

Try not to be too biased, as not all people are what they seem at first glance. Sometimes it is possible to work shoulder to shoulder with a person for a whole year, and then suddenly in a moment you can fit out something about them that is almost unimaginable .This is a caveat. And there will be plenty of those, so make sure you keep up with them. Although in reality it will be enough to keep concentration.

At work you will feel confident, but the situation still cannot be called stable. If you work for yourself, be prepared for the fact that your opponents are active, and all their activities that are possible, conceivable and inconceivable, will be directed against you. You should always think about how and where to distribute the resources available to you, especially when there is a shortage of these resources.

Enrique Iglesias Five Latin American Awards

In memory of the Dominican Gladys Ricart, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in New York on her wedding day, the “March of the Brides” against violence against women takes place every year. This year, for the first time, a man of honor has been invited. The Salsa star Alex Matos said it was his duty to help to ensure that there will be no more families in this country that become victims of this evil.

Enrique Iglesias, the perpetual award-winning contestant, once again was awarded five prizes at the Latin American Music Awards held in Los Angeles on the 7th of October. The award ceremony was still dominated by the death of Juan Gabriel. The three singers Shaila Dúrcal, Lila Downs and Aída Cuevas presented a potpourri of his greatest successes.

Luis Kenton Choreographer/Chorist died Los Kenton was a very popular Merengue group of the eighties. The three Kenton brothers were known for their sophisticated choreography, a mixture of Merengue and a kind of Kung-Fu. The man behind this choreography and also singing in the choir of the band was Luis Kenton. After a month in a hospital, he now died of a cardiac arrest on the 12 th of October. In 1987, Luis Kenton had an accident during a gymnastics session and had to use a wheelchair since then.

The television presenter and model Ana Carolina has now officially announced that she is pregnant by Musicólogo The Libro, a singer of Música urbana. The two met a year ago at the recordings of “Wow que Movie”, where she participated as one of the sparsely clad models. The 31year-old Ana Carolina already has two children, a 13-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son, Musicólogo is the father of a daughter.

What to do in a Traffic Accident? Valuable Tips from the Expert / Franz R. Scheichl is the Owner of Seguros Kling & Co The story begins in 1995 with Mrs. Waltraud Kling, who came from Germany, as an agent of La Monumental de Seguros. She became a pioneer for German, European, American and Canadian citizens in providing insurance in the respective languages. As a result, the office grew into one of the largest insurance brokers in Sosúa and the surrounding area and for La Monumental it became one of the most important brokers. In May 2009, Mrs. Kling opened the doors for Franz Scheichl and paved the way. The foundations were laid for changes, state licensing and contracts with the most important international and local insurance companies. In June 2010, Mrs. Waltraud Kling retired, handed over and sold the broker's office to Franz Scheichl. Today the broker's office is a specialist for car insurance, building insurance and a promoter of health care. Seguros Kling & Co has grown to become one of the leaders in any type of insurance in Sosúa and Cabarete.

Part I: Traffic Accidents Especially in the automobile sector there are always questions and also myths. We would like to take this opportunity to provide a better understanding of some important processes so that you have an orientation in the case of an accident. First, you should always inform the AMET (traffic police), which is stationed going up the hill of Camino Llibre, near the Mundo King Museum. There, first a police act (Acta Policial) has to be issued. In the case of a car body damage, the damage report can then be made with the police files. If you are insured with us, just come to our office with the aggrieved party and we will then take over the case. If there are injured persons, it is necessary to notify AMET. If you should be forced to bring the injured to a clinic, it has to be the “Hospital Público” in Puerto Plata. If they do not agree with this and prefer a clinic of their choice, make it clear to the other party that you will not take over any cost of this! Please call us so that our attorney can come directly to you. We are the only insurance company in Sosúa, which directly has the lawyer in the house. All others must first order an attorney to Sosúa via Puerto Plata or even Santiago.

Outside the commuting area of Sosúa, with an additional insurance (Asistencia Automovilista, the former Casa de Conductor) an equivalent assistance is assured, which you can then claim. We recommend that you

chose one of the prestigious insurance companies, which at least has a chief agency in Puerto Plata that can provide you with a lawyer within a short time (such as Monumental, Mapfre or Universal). Since we use our own lawyer in the Sosúa area, who represents La Monumental, we can ensure the best protection without long discussions with the insurance and without long periods of waiting. This service is unique in Sosúa and also ensures that we are able to participate directly in the course of the negotiations. In order to decipher the seemingly confusing process of the criminal process with a person injured, we would like to show the procedure in rough lines. First of all, AMET will keep the vehicle and the passport. Then you will be taken to the prosecutor, where your passport is returned. The case must be officially opened in court, but this can take up to one week. At this opening hearing (Medida de Coerción), the deposit is fixed and the time for investigations of the prosecutor is determined (in the case of an accident with

motor vehicles it is six months). During this time, you must be available to the prosecutor and you are not allowed to leave the country. In addition, an appearance at the prosecutor's office is required every 30th of the month. The next step is the taking of evidence (Preliminar) with an independent judge, which may extend over several negotiations, until finally determining which evidence will endure in court. You will be notified in writing by the bailiff for the first appointment at the court. If you are only called by phone, a rebuke and a representation are necessary, you have to demand to be notified in writing. Until this notification arrives, up to six more months may pass. Only when all these processes have been completed, the case will be passed to Puerto Plata. Here again, a new and independent judge has to be convinced and the sentence will be pronounced. You see, the local jurisprudence also has its meaning, but through problems in understanding and the lack of possibilities at the court, often a false picture of reality is painted. In conclusion, we advise you to conclude an insurance cover of up to 5 million in excess with a security deposit of one million and driver assistance. A car accident will always devour time. It is also impossible to avoid the processes of the local authorities. But the one who is well insured does not end up financially broke and is accompanied well. In this sense, Have a good trip! Franz R. Scheichl

What is this Guy singing? “Tu sin mi” by Jehu El Rey Salsa version of a Reggae hit of the Argentinian Dread Mar I, which also was a success by Johanzy feat. Mass Hysteria.

It is terrible to see that you are leaving. And you do not know the pain you have just left in me. You have taken the illusion that one day you will be only for me, oh for me. Many things have happened, a long time. It was doubt and resentment that we awoke seeing that we did not love each other. No, we no longer loved each other, oh no. And now you are without me. And what do I do with my love that was for you. And with all the illusion that one day you will be only for me, oh for me. And now you are without me. And what do I do with my love that was for you. And with all the illusion that one day you will be only for me, oh for me. Today I understand, I can see that love that one day I gave you did not fill your inside. And that is why you go away from me without looking back, back. But I, darling, I understood, in the time that passed that we had no longer the madness of this love which one day left. And it never returned, oh no. And now you are without me. And what do I do with my love that was for you. And with all the illusion that you will be only for me. It never returned, the heart, what a pain. It never returned, mamacita, come back. It never returned, where, where will it be? Give it, Martin. Nice melody on the piano which you like, Mami. It never returned, heart, my feelings It never returned, and my illusion of love. It never returned, alone and confused. It never returned, already hopeless. I have no choice but to see the daylight with the empty heart.

Jehu Segura Aquino was born in Boca Chica and is considered a Salsero with future. Already since he was a child he heard Salsa and he says that his style is more oriented to the classical Salsa of the seventies and eighties than to the modern Salsa that every newcomer sings today. In 2014, his cover version of the hit “Tu sin mi” by Argentine Reggae star Dread Mar I was quite successful. The song was already a romantic earworm when it was covered shortly before by the Dominican Johanzy and Mass Hysteria. Also in his recent recordings, Jehu El Rey, as the singer calls himself with his artist name, reverts to the tried and trusted, like Raulín's “Infiel”. He said, however, that his first album would include songs that had never been played before, because it was also important to publish own themes. In addition, he felt flattered that his voice was compared to Héctor Lavoe. But this was his way of singing. He didn't imitate others. Héctor Lavoe was a too big shoe.

Clever A man comes to a pub and orders, „Hurry, a beer beer for everybody before it will start!“ After ten minutes, the next order comes, „Another round of beer before it will start.“ After another few rounds with always the same announcement, the bartender asks the man, doubting, „Do you have enough money to pay for all the beer?“ „I think it's going to start now!“

X-Sudoku Each row, column and square has to contain the numbers from 1 to 9. X-Sudoku must show these numbers also on the two diagonal lines. Solutions on page 14.

 Two men are sitting on a train. The one says to the other: „Today I am doing everything wrong, I am just too stupid.“ The other man answers: „Well, then you should chew some apple seeds. That will help.“ „Fine. I'd like to try that. But where do I get apple seeds now?“ The other man answers, „I happen to have some apple seeds here and can sell you five of them for 20 dollars.“ The man pays and puts one seed into his mouth and starts to chew it. After about ten minutes, he says, „Listen, this is fraud! For 20 dollars I can buy ten kilos of apples!“ The other man answers, „Do you see? It's already working!“

In the cinema of a small Bavarian town. In the middle of the performance, a man from the audience announces loudly, „I just lost my wallet with 1,200 euros in it. I am willing to pay a hundred euros to the honest finder!“ Alois calls from the second row: „And I'll pay him two hundred!“

Ouch! The pastor asks if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for answered prayers. Mary Miller gets up and walks to the podium. She starts to talk. “I have a praise. Two months ago, my husband, Earnest, had a terrible bicycle accident and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excrutiating and the doctors didn't know if they could help him.” There is a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagine the pain that poor Earnest must have experienced. “Earnest was unable to hold me or our baby”, Mary goes on. “Every move caused him terrible pain. We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation, and it turned out they were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Earnest's scrotum and wrap a wire around it to hold it in place.” Again, the men in the congregation cringed and squirmed as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on Earnest. “Now”, Mary announces in a quivering voice, “thank the Lord, Earnest is out of the hospital and the doctors say with, time, his scrotum should recover completely.” All the men sigh wit unified relief. The pastor rises and tentatively asks if anyone else had something to say. A man stands up and shambles slowly to he podium. He says, “Hi, my name is Earnest.” The entire congregation holds its breath. “I just want to tell my wife, the correct word is sternum.”
