1 Thessalonians 2:1-8

We were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. —1 Thessalonians 2:7

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 13-14 Luke 10:1-24 SERVANT-FRIENDSHIP Don Tack wanted to know what life was like for homeless people. So he concealed his identity and went to live on the streets of his city. He found out that food and shelter were offered by many organizations. At one shelter he could spend the night if he listened to a sermon beforehand. He appreciated the guest speaker’s message and wanted to talk with him afterward. But as Don reached out to shake the man’s hand and asked if he could talk with him, the speaker walked right past him as if he didn’t exist. Don learned that what was missing most in ministry to the homeless in his area were people who were willing to build relationships. So he began an organization called Servants Center to offer help through friendship. What Don encountered at the shelter was the opposite of what the people who heard the apostle Paul experienced. When he shared the gospel, he gave himself too. He testified in his letter to theThessalonians, “We were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us” (1 Thess. 2:8). He said, “We were gentle among you,” Like a mother (v.7). In our service for the Lord, do we share not just our words or money but our time and friendship? Anne Cetas I want to do service for Christ while I live, And comfort and cheer to poor lonely hearts give; For this is the program approved by the World, To visit the needy and speak of the Lord,—Bosch One measure of our likeness to Christ Is our sensitivity to the suffering of others.

HPG Director Butch Mabutas huwarang Police General

M

Dahil ito sa kanyang exceptional qualities as a leader. Try to visit the HPG compound and compare its appearance and its personnel way back and of what it is today under Gen. Mabutas’ leadership. The visible accomplishments of this humble but professional police general will be sounding proofs that the HPG is on its way to regain its old lost glory.

Philippine National Police director general Jesus Verzosa atPresident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, chief of all Armed Forces of the Phil-

Vice Mayor Herbert “Bistek”

Binay for vice president...pwe!

MAY KARUGTONG. .

Siya ay dating naassign bilang Government Corporate Counsel sa Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, Department of Justice noong on 2 March 2007. Nagturo siya ng Law on Public/ Government Corporations, Election Law, the 1991 Local Government Code, Administrative Law and Law on Public Officers. Siya rin ay faculty member ng Development Academy of the Philippines (Masters in Public Management, Major in Local

Governance and Management) and the Ateneo Graduate School of Business – Health Unit (Leaders for Health Program). Naging Author siya ng ilang mga libro at reference materials ng Local Governance and Elections – Local Governance: Case Law on Local Autonomy and Local Governance, Compilation of Recent Legislation on Local Government, Compendium on Local Autonomy, CD-Rom on Local Governments (part of Lex Libris Series of CD Asia), Policy Framework on Municipal Bonds, Financing Local infrastructure Projects Through Joint Ventures, Decentralization over Water Resources – Water Districts, Watersheds and Water Resources; Elections: Survey of New Laws and Recent Jurisprudence on Philippine Elections, Primer on the Party-List System, Comparative Survey of Electoral Systems, Election Law Study Aids. Kaya para sa’yo sir mabuhay po kayo and keep up the good work!

QC jailbirds pedal for power THE Quezon City jail seems to have found its own solution to the rising cost of electricity while keeping the inmates fit in just one sitting. Recently, the detention facility unveiled its new invention – the “power bike” – which was conceptualized by Chief Superintendent Serafin Baretto Jr., Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Director for the National Capital Region and built by jailguard PO3 Roderick Sienna who made use of his experience as a former race car mechanic of a known car manufacturing company. The power bike is basically a bicycle mounted on a steel frame.

Electricity is produced when an inmate pedals the stationary bicycle. Its rear wheel is connected with a rubber drive belt to a dynamo which produces the needed electricity. Sienna said, the “power bike” can charge a car battery for two to three hours which can supply electricity for eight hours. The powerbike, which costs about P10,000, can be assembled using junk parts. It can also power 10 light bulbs and at least two electric fans. “It is totally safe since it only produces a 12 volt output,” Sienna assured. Baretto hopes to see more power bikes in other jails in Metro Manila after the successful pilottesting of the power machine at the Quezon City

BA TAAN MO T OR CADE: Liberal Party standard bearer BAT MOT ORCADE: Senator Benigno Aquino III with senatorial candidate Neric Acosta shake the hands of yellow-clad supporters during a motorcade in the province of Bataan on recently. Supporters lined up along the streets and welcomed Aquino despite the day’s forecast of rain from typhoon Agaton.

Jail. With almost 3,000 inmates at the QC jail, Baretto said it would be a good workout for them if each of the eight dormitories of the detention facility will be given a “power bike.” “For only two minutes, each inmate can power the machine for more than 24 hours,” he said. “This will also make the inmates more productive instead of doing nothing in jail,” he added. The bike, according to Sienna can also be used in charging batteries of vehicles or powering up a larger dynamo that can help supply the electricity needs of the jail and further reduce electricity costs. With the advent of the power bike, Quezon City jail warden Superintendent Nestor Velasquez is expecting that the monthly electric bills of the facility which costs P300,000 will be reduced by half. “Nakakatulong na sa kalikasan, nakakatulong pa ito sa austerity measures ng gobyerno (Not only does it help the environment but it also helps in the government’s austerity measures,” Velasquez said. Sienna said he initially thought of a windmill power device to be used by the BJMP while he was at a study program at the Jail National Training Institute in Laguna. But poured his creativity on the power bike project after Barreto suggested that this would be a valuable source of energy with the help of the inmates. Sienna, however has not abandoned his windmill project.

RD No. 24’s efforts yield positive tax collection BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 2 4 - Va l e n z u e l a posted positive tax collection during the first quarter of this year, a c c o r d i n g t o revenue district officer Emir Abutazil, who has just headed the office last January 8. Abutazil said that tax collection in his district office have marked an estimated 20% increase during the first two months of 2010 compared to last year’s collection target. Both Abutazil and assistant revenue district officer Fritz Buendia are also optimistic that this year’s entire first quarter collection will bare higher target collection compared to last year in consideration of the influx of taxpayers filing their income tax returns (ITR) which the deadline is set on April 15. Abutazil, a recipient of BIR’s Handang Maglingkod award, explained that the impressive tax collection increase is the result of their relentless tax information drive. He believe that in this time of global economic crisis,

the BIR needs to do all its best in encouraging taxpayers to pay their taxes to the government. As the deadline for the filing of the ITR approaches, BIR Valenzuenzuela continues to implement tax collection efforts such as tax seminars, symposium, coordination with the city business chambers and intensified tax campaigns down to barangay levels among others. Moreover, RDO Abutazil personally addressed all queries from concerned

participants during the recently conducted “Project Iboto Mo”, a dialogue and briefing with electoral candidates of Valenzuela City about Witholding Tax requirements on election campaign expenditures. “We cannot just sit down and wait for a positive tax result. We must do everything we can to help and guide our taxpaying public to carry out their tax obligation in spite of the current economic crisis challenge,” Abutazil said.

The Jesus signs on Edsa: One man’s crusade to spread the word to faithful IN THE 1980s, A SIGN REMINDING Christians about salvation towering on top of a Makati building along Edsa could be seen even from the road’s end in neighboring Pasay City, especially at night, when its neon lights glow and stand out on the horizon. Today, it is obscured from view, ironically because of the enormous advertisements with sexually-charged messages or excesses and other luxuries that egg people to spend, most probably, beyond their means. David Dedel, 66, a retired advertising man who put up the sign “Jesus alone saves,” isn’t undaunted by the signs of the times. “God gave people the will to let them decide. He only tells us what’s right from wrong,” he said. Dedel barely remembers the date when he put up the sign at the family-owned Racor building, one block away from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority office on Orense Street. There are actually two signs Dedel put up: One saying “Jesus alone saves” on the building’s south face, and the “Jesus loves you” sign on the opposite side. Because of the giant billboards that have mushroomed along Edsa, the signs have almost disappeared into oblivion. The “Jesus loves you” sign was dwarfed by huge metal structures holding larger-than-life advertisements. Dedel said there was no point in lighting these up at night because it has been obscured by its rivals. His other sign survived the onslaught of the billboards, but the three-word signage is hard to appreciate from afar because a fast-food ad blocks the view. Dedel has asked his people to relocate the ad, placing it a bit higher than its rival. Initially, the sign only carried the message “Jesus saves,” but some years after he put up the sign, Dedel said a Christian friend asked him to put in the word “alone,” believing that when Christ died on the cross, He saved mankind from sin, he said. Asked why he put up the sign, Dedel replied that he intended to spread the word of salvation. “If you have a cure against a disease, it’s your responsibility to share it with the sick,” he said. Besides, faith in Christ is the message of the season of Lent, Dedel added.

ELECTION 101: F y Ask ed Questions Frrequentl equently Asked

HO W WILL FILIPINOS HOW BE VOTING IN THE 2010 ELECTIONS? • For the first time in history, the Philippines will be having an Automated Elections Systems (AES) for its national elections. • The actual voting itself is still a manual process as the voters still need to manually fill up the ballot. • But unlike in the old manual system, the new ballot will be pre-printed with the names of candidates. The voter only needs to mark his selections on the ballot, thereby saving significant time and effort in the process. • He then feeds it into a machine called the Precinct Count Optical Scan, (PCOS), which scans or takes a picture of the ballot and interprets the picture.

7

• There are always portable generators provided by the poll watchers, political parties, among others during elections. • Comelec’s service provider, Smartmatic-TIM, is required to have 12 hour backup batteries. Spares are also available at strategic locations from its technical support staff. • The machines are essentially laptops which require low power consumption and which can easily be connected to a variety of power sources including rechargeable batteries, inverters and portable generators. • Rechargeable batteries are readily available in commercial retail stores nationwide. • TELCOs have, as standard practice, 2 standby power generator sets in their stations/facilities. • SO MANY ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF POWER. POWER FAILURE WILL NEVER LEAD TO ELECTION FAILURE. THERE MIGHT NO T BE ENOUGH TIME TO A CCOMMOD ATE ALL NOT ACCOMMOD CCOMMODA VOTERS TERS.. COULD THIS LEAD TO MASSIVE DISENFRANCHISEMENT? • NO. AES process is actually shorter. No ballot serial numbers to log and perforate. No going through several pages of candidate list. Candidates are listed alphabetically, easy to choose. Illiterates don’t have to write anything – they just shade ovals. Comelec spokesman James Jimenez shows the new secure official ballot which is accepted by automated counting machines for the August 11 Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Elections.

HO W WILL THE VOTES BE COUNTED? HOW • At the end of the Voting Day, the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) will close the elections by accessing the Administrative Menu on the PCOS. • Only upon closing the elections can the PCOS start counting the votes. Unlike in the manual process, counting by the PCOS process happens instantly. • The PCOS then prints 8 copies of ER together with a statistic report and an audit log. HO W WILL THE ELECTION RETURNS BE TRANSMITTED? HOW • The BEI then connects the Transmission device to the PCOS via the Ethernet port. The Automated Counting Machines is only “connected” once at the end of the voting day, and then disconnected after transmission. • The transmission process takes less than 2 minutes. • As in the manual process, the results from the precincts will be transmitted to the Municipal Canvassing Server / Station. • The municipal canvassing server canvasses all the results from the precincts under its jurisdiction. Once all the results are canvassed, the MBOC (Municipal Board of Canvassers) can generate and print out the Municipal Certificate of Canvass as well as the Statement of Votes. This process is repeated, transmitting the results and printing the necessary reports in the Provincial and National Canvassing Stations. HO W SURE ARE WE THA T RESUL ANNO T BE HOW THAT RESULTS CANNO ANNOT TS C TERED DURING TRANSMISALTERED INTERCEPTED AND AL SION? • Prior to transmitting the Election Returns, the PCOS digitally signs the files using the SHA256 algorithm and encrypts them using the AES128 algorithm. • This encryption level is as good, if not better than most online banking transactions, which are “connected” 24 hours a day, seven days a week. • By contrast, the Automated Counting Machines is connected only at the end of the voting day, only for the short period needed to send the information. This makes the risk of “hacking” virtually impossible.

Even if we double this number and use 15 seconds as an estimate for a single ballot to be cast; • 15 seconds per ballot cast = Four ballots cast per minute; • At 50% machine utilization , this is reduced to two ballots cast per minute; • Two ballots cast per minute = 120 ballots cast per hour; • 120 ballots cast per hour for 11 hours = 1,320 ballots cast for the entire Election Day; and • Assuming 100% voter turnout, the PCOS machine can cast on Election Day is 1,320 ballots VER? WHA T DOES THE A UTOMA OMATION COVER? WHAT AUT UT OMA TION CO • The Automation Project covers the following processes of Elections: Voting, Counting, Canvassing and Proclamation. Registration and Authentication is outside of the scope of the Project. In other words, the management of the Voter’s List and the Validation of a Voter in the precinct is still a manual process. CAN DAGDAG-BAWAS STILL OCCUR OCCUR? • No. The counting, canvassing and proclamation process for the 2010 National and Local Elections will be completely automated. There is absolutely NO HUMAN INTERVENTION. No more room for mistakes and fraud.

WHA T ABOUT THE FL YING VOTERS? WHAT FLYING • As mentioned, registration and authentication of voters is outside the scope of the Automation Project. However, the technology can limit the instances of flying voting, as each and every clustered precinct’s corresponding number of voters is programmed into the voting machine to be used. Therefore, for example, a precinct has 453 voters (including the BEIs), the voting machine deployed there would only accept 453 casted votes. WHA T HAPPENS IF A VOTER MAKES A WHAT MIST AKE? MISTAKE? • Currently, the COMELEC is considering giving the BEIs the authority to issue replacement ballots in certain cases, under their discretion (if the voter makes an honest mistake, for example). The final policy will be determined by the COMELEC. However, we should highlight the importance of conducting a very good Voter Education Campaign. Voters should be encouraged to prepare a codigo before hand.

Pagcor remits P1.6 billion to gov’t in Small-scale monopolies JanuaryW February HEN we talk of monopolies and oligopolies, people often think of the large ones, like power and energy monopoly, airline and shipping monopoly, telecommunications and water monopoly, and so on. People seldom talk, even “forgive”, small-scale monopolies. Like jeepneys, tricycles, and pedicabs or “trisikad”. It is true that there is no single jeepney (or tricycle and trisikad) operator that monopolizes the industry. But they as a group monopolize a particular route. That is, jeepneys from various owners/ operators and drivers monopolize a particular route, buses and vans are banned there. Tricycles from various owners/operators and drivers also monopolize a particular route (usually from village gates to the main road), jeepneys, vans and buses are banned in that route. When a route is granted by the government to be monopolized by buses or jeepneys or tricycles (ie, only one of them can take that route, all other public transportation except taxis are banned), commuters have no other choice except to bring their own cars, or take the cab. Both options are expensive considering the high prices of fuel products, traffic congestions, high parking fees, and dangers of carnapping or towing by some local governments, if one brings his/her own car. The monopolists almost always do not strive to improve their vehicles anymore. Even if their units are old and dilapidated, smelly and mutilated, they often do not care. They know that non-rich riders and commuters have no other option but take their dilapidated and/or over-loaded vehicles, so why bother and spend money to improve their vehicles? Better use the money to bribe government officials so they will keep the route monopoly and keep away competition from more modern, more comfortable public transpo like air-con vans, new and more modern bus lines. Take the Ayala-Washington route in Makati, for instance. Ayala Avenue is the country’s prime financial district. While there are buses and air-con vans from the northern part of the metropolis that pass this road, there are none coming from the southern part. So passengers from the south get off from the MRT Ayala station and take the jeepneys that ply the Ayala-Washington route. There are no alternative air-con vans, only taxis and the often rickety and smoke-belching jeepeneys. So you can see in the country’s prime and famous financial district, sometimes dilapidated side by wide with new model and expensive cars, competing for road space. What is worse is that jeepney drivers overload their vehicles. A jeepney that can comfortably seat 8 passengers on one side is being packed with 9 passengers, otherwise the driver will not move the vehicle. Again, jeepney owners and drivers do not bother if their jeepneys are smelly and ugly, they are aware that passengers who have no cars and cannot afford to take taxis, have no other alternative but ride their jeepneys. Some people propose that government should phase out jeepneys and tricycles in many areas of Metro Manila. I do not agree with this proposal because this will involve coercion and charges of government “favoritism”. A better option is that the government will (a) not grant or create monopoly franchises to jeepneys and tricycles in particular routes, (b) allow various options of public transpo, the air-con vans and buses in particular, to compete with jeepneys and tricycles, and (c) deregulate fares. This way, it will not be the government that will phase out — or at least force the improvement — of those jeepneys and tricycles, but the passengers themselves. When many people will not ride jeepneys and tricycles, the latter will be forced to either improve their units, or bring down their fares to attract passengers, or abandon the route and bring their jeepneys and tricycles to areas and routes where the vans and buses are either absent or have weak presence yet. Many countries with big population do not have jeepneys and tricycles, only buses and trains. Even for rich countries with small population, like Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, they do not have small-passenger public transpo like jeepneys and tricycles. They only have buses and trains. The Philippines need not jump into the extensive and expensive train system. The government needs only to step back a little and de-monopolize certain routes to allow the entry of more comfortable vehicles to serve passengers who do not have cars and are poor enough to take the taxi everyday. Competition among various public transpo providers will empower passengers.

Giant Thai agri-business firm puts up P1-billion hog production facility in Tarlac CHAROEN Pokphand Foods or CP Foods, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thailand’s largest agri-business group, the giant Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) is investing P1.042 billion in hog production facility in Concepcion, Tarlac. The investment would complement its P2.36-billion aqua feed mill plant in Capas, Tarlac. “CP Foods continues to raise the level of its investment commitment by expanding their operations in the country. The project will contribute substantially to the SME sector since their main market will be hog raisers in

the country,” said Trade and Industry Secretary Jesli A. Lapus. The project will entail the construction of a great grand parent stocks (GGPs) farm, a grand parent stocks (GP) farm and a farm for breeder finishing hogs. The feed requirements of the three (3) farms will be culled by the company through feed mill tolling agreements with a chosen feed mill adjacent to the farm sites. Lapus added that the project “shall boost the opportunities in the food sector particularly in the hog raising industry. A steady supply of hogs will ensure stable prices for the public as consumer confidence continues its upswing recovery.

THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), under the stewardship of Efrain C. Genuino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, has remitted P1.6 billion to the national government coffers in the first two-months of the year. Data from the Bureau of Treasury showed that in February, the regulator of casino gaming in the country had remitted P815 million, higher by 3 percent compared with the P792 million in the previous month. Under the law, PAGCOR is required to remit 5 percent of its net winnings to the Bureau of Internal revenue BIR) as franchise tax, and 50 percent of the 95 percent balance goes to the Bureau of Treasury. To date, PAGCOR is operating 13-branches and 25 exclusive clubs, open in major cities across the country. Last month, MJC Investments Corp. (MIC) told the Philippine Stock Exchange that it will build a hotel casino in the former San Lazaro race track in Manila in partnership with PAGCOR. The holding firm disclosed that it entered an agreement with Pagcor, which would establish, manage and operate a casino in the hotel that MIC would construct. This hotel will be built on MIC’s 1.4-hectare property within the San Lazaro Tourism and Business Park in Santa Cruz,

Manila. The site is part of the former racetrack, the San Lazaro Hippodrome that has been registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, entitling it to tax perks and other incentives. Under a property-forshare swap undertaken in April 2008, MIC accepted Aries Prime Global Holdings Inc. as the transferee of Manila Jockey Club Inc.’s non-core assets. Aries used to be the majority owner of MIC before the sale of its entire stake in June 2007. In January, PAGCOR had launched its latest gaming service, www.egamesonline.com.ph, the first Internet-based casino gaming website. E-Games Online is operated by Philweb Homeplay, Inc., a subsidiary of PhilWeb Corporation, and will offer traditional casino games like blackjack, baccarat, roulette and slots to Filipino players that are 21 or older. Philweb said that the suite of games, which covers everything found in a “land-based” casino, is presented with stateof-the-art graphics and high speeds, thanks to enterprise-class servers from PhilWeb.

Getting married? Ask me. THERE are no bad questions, ‘coz whatever questions you have, Elline answers it best... Q : We want a small but stylish wedding (100 guests or less) but are worried that both our families will want to invite too many business associates and contacts rather than our close friends and family. Is a destination wedding the only option that would keep our wedding small and intimate without disappointing every one? A : If having a destination wedding is not an option, you could try getting a reception venue that by its small size physically limits the number of invited guests. That way you could inform the parents that there really is no

space available for more guests. Some couples have opted to have two wedding receptions (the second one is held a day or two after) just to accommodate their parents’ wishes. Q : Our wedding is a year from now. We are choosing between wedding coordinators, photographers, designers, etc. and have mentioned the date in our meetings. Do we have to inform the ones we are not choosing? What’s the proper way to tell them? A : It would show good manners on your part if you inform those suppliers that you are not hiring of your decision. Being professionals, suppliers understand that not everyone gets 100% booking average out of every possible client that they meet.

It would be proper on your part to tell them that you are not availing of their services so that they can unblock the date from their list. No need to give any reasons or excuses. Q : I was told that it is not proper to include wedding registry with the invitation. How do we let people know where we are registered? A : To include a wedding registry card together with the invitation presumes that the one being invited will give you a gift. This is considered bad etiquette since it is their presence that is being requested (with or without the gift). Those wanting to give a gift either send one or may call the couple or their family to ask what item would the couple need or want.

Joseph, was given the “miracle baby” title after he and his twin brother, Jason, were born almost four months premature. Their mother, Purita, went into labor while on a flight from Guam to Hawaii. Now, nearly 28-years after the event, Joseph got married on March 27.

Did you know that: For centuries the month of June has been the most popular choice for weddings - but the original reason might surprise you. You see, during the 1400 -1500s, May was the month in which the “annual bath” occurred. Yes, just as it sounds, back then people were only able to bathe thoroughly once each year. As such, since the over-all population was smelling relatively fresh in June, it was a good time to hold a special event like a wedding! Further, the month of June is named after the goddess Juno, who was the Roman counterpart to Hera, the goddess of the hearth and home, and patron of wives. Ancient tradition thought it was unlucky to marry in the month of May because in Romans times the Feast of the Dead and the Festival of the Goddess of Chastity both occurred in May. To practice writing your new name prior to the wedding (and what bride doesn’t do this?) is believed to tempt fate and thus, is also believed to result in bad luck during the marriage! B a d weather on the way to the wedding is believed to signify unhappiness in the marriage. Traditionally it is believed that cloudy skies and wind en route to the wedding will result in a stormy marriage. However, snow on the way to the wedding is a sign of fertility and prosperity! It was thought that misfortune would come to those who married during lent - “Marry in Lent, live to repent” - because lent was a time for abstinence. The tradition for the bride to wear white began in the 16th century and is still commonly followed today. This is a symbol of the bride’s purity and her worthiness of her groom. The tradition became solidified during the time of Queen Victoria who rebelled against the royal tradition for Royal brides to wear silver. Instead, the queen preferred the symbolism which is expressed by wearing white. The brides of the time quickly emulated the queen, and the tradition has continued in full force to this day. There is an old saying that “the bride wore a green gown”. This implies the belief that she was promiscuous before marriage and refers to the image of her rolling around in grassy fields with a young man.

In these days of “practicality, I often advise couples to include where they are registered in an info card which also states the attire and RSVP or any other pertinent wedding info. This way the wedding registry is not too glaring or “in-your-face”. Q : In your experience, what age is too young or too old as choices for flower girls and ring bearers? We want them to be able to walk down the aisle without a maid or parent. A : A child is considered for the role of flower girl or bearer from the ages of 4 to 8 years old. Any older would classify them as junior attendant and any younger is just asking for trouble. Infants and toddlers can be dressed up as a flower girl or bearer for picture purposes but preferably not made to walk. Libangan

April 9 - 11, 2010

Palaisipan

ARIES (March. 21- April 19)- There don’t seem to be too many problems as far as your finances are concerned, or any other area of your life. You might want to make a few changes, though, especially regarding your values and priorities. TAURUS (April 20- May. 20) -You have reached that time of year when it helps to take stock and reflect on what you want to achieve over the coming months. Slow down and use this opportunity to plan ahead and create some exciting goals for yourself. GEMINI (May. 21- June 21) - If you have a job, lighten your schedule, because you may be too tired to complete your usual amount of work. Cut out any unnecessary tasks and give yourself some space. Mercury, your ruling planet, moves into Taurus on Friday and into your Twelfth House. CANCER (June 22-July 22) - There are ideas galore just waiting to be picked and used for your latest projects, whether personal or business oriented. Go with the flow, and above all, have fun. Both Venus and Mercury move out of your career zone and into Taurus this week.

LIBRA (Sept. 24-Oct. 23) - There is a Full Moon in your sign at the start of the week, which may bring issues and tensions to a head. You could find yourself laughing more, but you could also be crying more, too. SCORPIO (Oct. 24- Nov. 22) -The Full Moon in Libra may encourage vivid and powerful dreams, since it takes place in your mystical Twelfth House. If you feel restless and find it hard to sleep, take a long bath and add some lavender oil, which will soothe away your worries and help you to relax more deeply. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23- Dec. 21) - You might find it hard to put up with too much routine. Timetables and schedules leave you cold. All you want is to be allowed to journey far with the wind in your hair and the Sun in your face. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22- Jan. 19) - The focus shifts from home and family matters to leisure and pleasure. It’s time to give in to the desire to relax and enjoy life. This area of your chart is also associated with new love affairs and dating. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20- Feb.18) - Think about making some surface changes to your home. It’s the little touches that can make all the difference. Your home is the one place where you can relax. PISCES (Feb. 19- March. 20) -It’s time to do some planning and goal setting, since you need an outlet for all the inspiration that is flowing your way. Set yourself challenges, because they help you to see how far you have come and how much more you’re capable of.

LEO (July 22- Aug. 22) - This week you get a revelation that leads to a renewed determination to take action. Try not to overreact to the Full Moon; that would be a mistake. If you have decisions to make, wait a few days and then make your choices. VIRGO (Aug. 23- Sept. 23) - It’s time to look to the future and make some plans. You might want to expand your options, which could entail study or a revision of some knowledge you once had. The weekend seems quite intense.

ya? Dapat mahuli at mabigy-

Ricky Martin comes out of the closet and media runs to my house asking for sound-bites. O ayan, those from the losing party list groups who accuse me of ‘controversially courting the media’, take note. They come to me, in my tiny house full of books, so I have to harum-scarum clean the

flat in ten minutes! After years of scrutiny about his sexuality, sinabi ni Ricky na ito ang kailangan niya. “Especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day,” sey ni Ricky sa kanyang website na ang tinutukoy ay ang kanyang 2year-old na kambal sa isang babaeng di niya tinonteng. “These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.” Ricky’s declaration spread like wildfire sa local tinseltown. And to this, marami ang curious... susunod na raw kaya si Papa P?

tukoy nila? Kuyafi lagong! Speaking of Piolo Pascual, in the making na ang TV project niya with the two child sensations na si Zaijan “Santino” Jaranilla at Xyriel Anne “Agua Bendita” Manabay, syempre pa sa ABS-CBN. Hindi pa nila na-fa-finalize ang title ng nasabing teleserye but they are promising na napakaganda ng concept... well, if it’s from ABS-CBN, I’m sure wagi ini! Abangan! Ahahaha! Wis ka-arrive arrive sa true to life lang!

Dra. Jane P. Enriquez (tel. no. (63) (2) 400-5539 or email goldenjjj888@yahoo.com) para pagnasaan siya ng mga umbaw! Hendevaduday?! US since 1972 after Martial Law was declared. More on Mother Jackson ang ibubulgar ko next issue... Abangan! Regular natin siyang naririnig sa DZMM every early morning over the radio program “Ka-Deyt” with Bobby Yan. Korek ang attitude ni Francine na life has to go on at di dapat magmukmok.

bata, bilang panganay, Francine has always been supportive of her mother, and vice versa.

O, ano, for Ripley’s Believe it or Not ang byuti ni Mommy Amelia Falcon! Oh, lavan kah?! God bless your soul Mommy Amy!

The tragedy brought about by her desire to augment her behind to complement her front asset would not leave her which if she could, she would leave behind. She was 26 years old when she was discovered and entered the world of showbusiness. She was second year college when the opportunity to earn for her family, being the eldest of the seven siblings, lured her away from school. While Selina was flawless even when she entered showbusiness at a more advanced age, her talent manager thought augmenting her behind to complement her boobs was necessary. Having the money to undergo an augmentation

procedure of her behind, she did it at a clinic which she refused to divulge.

David energizes Coca-Cola UNLIKE other players, Gary David doesn’t have an oversized ego, explaining why he’s willing to take the backseat to other players. But his talent carries him through, and this was acknowledged by members of the PBA Press Corps who picked him as the first Accel Player of the Week for the Fiesta Conference. Asi Taulava and Chico Lanete took turns shining in the Tigers’ two wins in as many outings, but it was the steady plays of David, known for his dynamic qualities, that fueled the team’s surge to the early lead in the import-flavored tournament. Proofs are his 18.0 points that went well with 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and as many steals, norms that made him second only in the team (behind reinforcement James Penny) and the conference-leader in the points and swipes departments. More than that, David’s vigor rubbed off on his teammates. “He is really living up to his moniker as ‘Mr. Pure Energy,’ said Coke coach Bo Perasol. “He gives us the necessary lift whenever we need it badly.” David maintains he’s just willing to do anything he can for Coke and it happened to jive with his personal reason. It is precisely because of these unassuming ways belied by David’s fiery on-court manner that Perasol asked the player be acquired when the tactician assumed the head coaching reins in the middle stages of the season-opener’s eliminations, having handled the former Lyceum Pirate in their Air21 days.
