Itasca’s 10th Annual Autumn Harvest Festival and Lantern Lit Hike Saturday, September 23

“Fungus among Us” is this year’s theme for the lantern lit hike on Saturday, Sept. 23. Guides with lanterns will lead you down the kerosene lantern-lit trail to meet characters that will share all about Itasca’s fungus and fungus imposters during this family-friendly evening hike. Group hikes will last about 30 minutes, departing every 10 minutes from the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. Registration for hikes begins at 6 p.m. The first hike leaves at 6:30 p.m. and the last hike will begin at 8:10 p.m. Hike times fills up fast, so make sure you register early. Suitable for all ages! Hike length is approximately one-half mile. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Other activities will be ongoing, including music and a variety of children’s activities. Dress for being outdoors in autumn. Last year’s event featured food, music, Native crafts, a wild rice hotdish contest and more.

Carter’s Farm Fall Festival Saturday, September 30

The Carter’s Red Wagon Farm fall festival begins Sept. 30 and continues each Saturday through October. This annual celebration features a pumpkin party, cornfield maze, hay bale maze and many other fun activities. This event is an autumn tradition for many families living in or visiting the Park Rapids area. Activities include journeys through an “amazing” maze, setting sail in giant pumpkin boats, wagon rides and musical performances. Tony and Linda Carter are the masterminds behind the merriment and Tony creates a new maze with a new theme each year. The farm is located a few miles southwest of Park Rapids. The celebration begins with a day on the farm, complete with tractor drawn wagon rides and lots of very special fall activities.

Wild Rice Festival Saturday, October 21

Coming off a successful first year, the 2017 “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” Wild Rice Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 in downtown Park Rapids. This all day event is a partnership between the Nemeth Art Center, White Earth Nation, Downtown Business Association and Chamber of Commerce. The festival’s goal is to promote regional artists, musicians and the natural wild rice which is unique to our region of the world. Last year’s event featured food, music, Native crafts, a wild rice hotdish contest and more.
