I captured the photo below last week. I could hear laughter and social interaction that presented pure joy and appreciation of each other. The innocence of children playing; we can learn so much from children. These three young children pictured represent so much difference, yet so much sameness in their lives. Behind them is a gorgeous sunflower. I like to use the analogy of a flower to describe International Mindedness.

Updates from the Principal’s Desk The 2019/2020 Academic Year will bring about a renewal process of our whole school vision. We will continue to work together to create a clear message of what we as a school community are trying to achieve, to assist in bringing everybody together with a focus. This year's Parent Questionnaire assists this process with questions about parent understanding of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and/or International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), which are fundamental to how we operate as a learning community. Residentials come to a close This week's Panaga School Weekly is delivered as our 2019 School Residentials programme draws to an end, with the return of our M2 students from Temburong.

This week, Chess, Orchestra and Film Club all joined Miss Rosie and Miss Gina at the beach for the first ASA Beach Clean. They were able to collect 1 big bag of rubbish.
Next week, Miss Laura and Miss Amy will be joined by: Digital Photography, Card Games and Singing Club, all from Teraja. Remember:
Make sure you have completed the permission slip. On the day, bring hats, sun-cream, bug-spray and Water bottles. Children are to be collected from their normal ASA location.

UN Sustainable Goal #11 Sustainable Cities and Communities
Through P2’s IPC Shared Learning! Recently, P2 put their knowledge of environmental protection to good use as they taught the children in P3 how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. P2 showed ways we can reduce like saying ‘No’ to things we don’t need, and turning off water at the swimming pool when we are finished showering. Children also demonstrated ways to reuse, like our water bottles and shopping bags. Then, the children shared a song about taking care of the planet. P3 learned how to sort rubbish and recycle what we can. P2 showed how to sort into Paper and Cardboard, Plastic and Aluminum. Top tips were to check plastic for the recycle arrows with a number 1 or 2, as these are the only types recyclable at the Panaga Club facilities. Also, to use magnets to ensure the shiny materials are truly aluminum. Now, P3 are ready to share what they have learned with local school children in the next weeks! By the P2 Teaching Team

P6 Weather and Climate Entry Point
A plea for help arrived. Stranded scientist in Antarctica.
How are we going to get there?
Putting the clues together – we had to find all the pieces of the puzzle and solve the clues. Then we found the location of the scientist in Antarctica.
I like how the Entry Point was a mystery. We had to find the clues to save the scientist. IT WAS FUN ! IT WAS ADVENTUROUS! - Saksham and Seereen.

What is the impact of an IPC Entry Point? An Entry Point is an exciting and memorable event that launches every IPC unit. It is a hook to get your children engaged in their learning. It is a fun way to create interest in the topic and spark enthusiasm.

In Nursery this week, we have been learning how to make robots using both junk materials and wood. The children are learning the skills of joining boxes together to make structures using tape and glue. In addition, they are also learning how to make a robot out of wood. The children have been learning how to firstly sand the wood, and then, to put the wood in the vice, and finally, how to hammer in nails to join the arms and legs. We want an injuryfree work space and all children have been wearing safety goggles. We are very proud of how resilient the children have been when making their models. Thank you to Shane and Valentina for helping the children. We are looking forward to teaching the children sawing skills next. By the Nursery Team

Last Thursday, 32 children and 5 teachers from Seri Mulia Sarjana School in Bandar Seri Begawan came to visit Panaga School. 12 children joined the P5 classes and 20 children joined the P4 classes. The aim of the day was for the Seri Mulia Sarjana children to be immersed in our school for a day and experience class lessons, Specialists lessons and playtimes. All of the children and teachers involved from both schools had a great day. They learnt and experienced lots of new things. It was such a success that we are going to try and make it an annual event.
Carpet time and show and tell were new experiences for us.

P6 - International and Personal Learning
‘Planting 210 trees‘ and ‘Kelulut Honey’ Projects The money P6 raised through their Walkathon went to purchasing 210 trees in Tombung, Kiulu.
During our residential in Kiulu, we went to the village and together with the villagers we planted the trees. Each house in the village received 5 trees.
The bees will be used to pollinate the plants in the area. We also presented the local Kindergarten with two bamboo bee hives containing stingless bees called Kelulut.
The project linked in with our IPC topic Roots, Shoots and Fruits and helped us with our International Learning and caring for the environment.
We had to use many Personal Qualities such as Respect, Resilience and Communication.
