A co-ed softball game held in October between Silicon Valley Association of REALTORSÂŽ (SILVAR) REALTORÂŽ members of the Menlo Park/Atherton, Palo Alto and Los Altos/Mountain View districts (Team 650) and REALTORÂŽ members of the association’s Cupertino/Sunnyvale and Los Gatos/Saratoga districts (Team 408) successfully raised over $3,200 for the Silicon Valley REALTORSÂŽ Charitable Foundation. More than 100 players and spectators gathered at the softball ďŹ eld in the New Portola Valley Town Center on October 6 for “A Day On the Diamond,â€? which also featured music and a BBQ dinner. With a ďŹ nal score of 5 to 1 at the bottom of the seventh inning, Team 408 won the game and the trophy. The special event was sponsored by the following: Opes Advisors, BBQ Sponsor; Coldwell Banker, Home Base Sponsor; Alain Pinel Realtors (Los Altos), Alain Pinel Realtors (Menlo Park) and Princeton Capital, Base Sponsors; and A & R Termite Control, Inc., SILVAR’s Cupertino/ Sunnyvale District; and Moise Nahouraii Referral Realty (Cupertino), Supporters. Lehua Greenman, chair of the Day On the Diamond Committee, noted that the real winner of the event was the Silicon Valley REALTORSÂŽ Charitable Foundation. “I’m very happy that the Menlo Park/Atherton District could host an event that brought the entire SILVAR association together,â€? said
Greenman. “I want to thank everyone for supporting our Charitable Foundation by participating in this event, by sponsoring, playing, coaching, umpiring, hosting, cheering, and being part of a great crowd.â€? The Silicon Valley REALTORSÂŽ Charitable Foundation is a trust which makes grants available to organizations from donations by its REALTORÂŽ and afďŹ liate members and friends. “The Charitable Foundation is committed to the welfare and prosperity of the communities where SILVAR members live and work. Through our contributions and member involvement in our fundraising events, we strive to help create more productive and enriched communities,â€? added Greenman, who is also a trustee of SILVAR’s Charitable Foundation. Last year, the Charitable Foundation distributed over $45,000 in grants, including $18,000 in college scholarships. Non-proďŹ t organizations operating within the areas served by the local trade association are eligible for grant consideration provided they meet the Foundation’s evaluation criteria.
