Just
as it is with us all, Mary Murphy is confronted with thousands of images every day. Stimuli registered by the retina travels along the optic nerve to the brain. Many of those images are the equivalent of pyrotechnic duds destined to fizzle into oblivion. Others, particularly those that evoke the landscape of the human face, have the power to spark synapses just as though every day was the 4th of July.
