Secretary’s Office Hours Mon. – Thurs. 9 to 12 noon First Confession/First Communion The meeting for parents/guardians of students in grade 2 or older who plan to celebrate Reconciliation and Eucharist this school year, for the first time, is Wed. Sept. 23, 7:00 pm. All parents/guardians are expected to attend this important meeting at the school. Students baptized outside of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish must have a Roman Catholic baptismal certificate. The Enrolment Ceremony for candidates for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist will be at all weekend Masses Sept. 26 & 27. The Sacrament of the Sick – ideally celebrated in community, will be Thursday, Oct 15, 2:30 pm. Those who are seriously ill, those of advanced age, those undergoing serious surgery or treatment and those in danger of death are invited. All who are baptized Catholics are candidates for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Let us joyfully celebrate the healing of the Lord through His Church. Needs of the Church The Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada is September 27. We thank you in advance for your generosity, solidarity and support. The Joy of the Gospel Wednesday, October 21 & 28, November 4 & 11, Friar Edward Debono, O.F.M. Conv., will present four themes of the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis. ‘The Joy of the Gospel’ (Evangelii Gaudium). These Wednesday evenings in our hall, 7-8 pm, are a blessed opportunity for us, and for all, to have a bit of time for spiritual nourishment and renewal Our generous Knights of Columbus have copies of the Joy of the Gospel for you. It is necessary to read the letter before the presentation so that we may receive full benefit from these four evenings. The Theology of the Body Workshop The Theology of the Body is the extraordinary teaching given to us by St. John Paul II, and is considered by many to be one of his defining works. These teachings are renewing marriages, awakening vocations, and healing deep personal wounds. The workshop will be held on Fri. 23 Oct. – Sun. 25 Oct. at St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish Centre. Cursillistas of the Archdiocese of Kingston All cursillistas are invited to a meeting to help re-establish the Cursillo movement in the Archdiocese. With the approval of Archbishop O’Brien, this is a call to all cursillistas to come to a gathering, to celebrate Mass at 8:00 am (optional), to experience small group reunion and participate in the re-founding of cursillo in the Archdiocese and go forward. The Youth Office, along with the Deaconate Program and St. Mary’s Cathedral will be hosting this one-day workshop on Forming Intentional Disciples. A day focused on our personal relationship with Jesus and evangelizing to others based on Sherry Weddell’s book “Forming Intentional Disciples”. Deacon Mark Cesnik from the St. Catherine of Siena Institute that Weddell founded will be Facilitating this awesome day! $30 registration fee includes lunch. Archdiocesan Retreat for Separated and/or Divorced at Providence Spirituality Centre, Kingston, Friday evening, October 2 and Saturday, October 3.
