CELEBRATION OF ST. TRYPHON As the area with microclimate, suitable for vineyards since the Antique times our grapevines have been widely known. Even today, St. Tryphon – the protector of vineyards is celebrated with some old pagan customs. Every 14th of February, the Association of gardeners and grape growers begin their celebration of St. Tryphon by cutting vine, socializing, having fun, and exchanging experiences with guests from other wine areas. The best brandies and wines, home cooking and folklore are traditionally associated with this date.

THE DANUBE REGATTAS In the summer the Danube has a special meaning and value to the citizens. Jolly and sunny Danube brings a life that has a big effect on people's wellbeing and sense of security Tekija has lived its life since antique Transdierna, all the rulers who ruled it, through ups and downs to its final shape made after the HE power plant Iron Gate I. It is located in the National park Djerdap on a beautiful lake which hides abu ndance of catfish and zander in its depths. Fishermen have deep respect for their ancestors and pass on tales of the Danube myth through stories of a good catch. In the beginning of May, Regatta „Tragom starih Tekijskih alasa” (“Ways of old Tekija fishermen“) which starts from Tekija to Hajdučka vodenica and back is the first event of many organized in past years by Tekija's Kayak club.

The Danube Celebration Day regatta is organized every June and represents a challenge even for the most experienced kayakers, to row upstream from Tekija to Donji Milanovac and back. Djerdap regatta Tekija – Kusjak is the biggest regatta which every July gathers all Danube lovers from Serbia and abroad. Going through the HE power plant Djerdap I’s lock is a special feeling.

TID REGATTA (TOUR INTERNATIONAL DANUBIEN) The oldest, longest and the biggest tourist, sports and recreational kayak, canoe, and rowing regatta has sailed the Danube for six decades now, from German town Ingolstadt to Romanian village St. George on the coast of the Black Sea. It takes 75 days to complete 2.455 km long trip. In first days of August, TID regatta arrives to Kladovo municipality, and stays for five days, the longest time spent in any place on its course. About 150 kayakers from all over the world, inspired with natural beauties, cultural and historical monuments, and people’s hospitality, take their impressions to far places from which they came, as true missionaries of the Danube. The welcome is in Tekija, and the famous kayak’s farewell on a beautiful sand beach in Brza Palanka, in the Roman Age known as Egeta, the place where the first Serbian ship “Knjaz Mihajlo“ was built in 1842, during the reign of Miloš Obrenović. Brza Palanka is the pearl of Kladovo's river basin, with beautiful landscapes, preserved and authentic architecture and loving hosts.

ETHNO FESTIVAL Ethno festival Kladovo grew up to be not just an ethno festival in Eastern Serbia but an international event. It is traditionally held in the second half of July and has been successfully organized every year by the Tourist organization of Kladovo. Ethno festival Kladovo represent cultural event of national development, customs and tradition, as well as tourist attraction. Exibition stands are placed in the center of Kladovo where you can taste natural honey and its bee-products, wines and brandies, have a try at old trades and buy some home made souvenirs and products. Colourful motives, fish stew cooking competitions, folklore and singers’ performance, are just a part of the atmosphere in warm July days. During two days of the festival, about 10000 visit it, and to our people living and working abroad the Ethno festival is the best welcome to their homeland vacation. ZLATNA BUĆKA ĐERDAPA (THE GOLDEN PLOP OF DJERDAP) Zlatna bućka Đerdapa is a sport and fishing event which lasts almost thirty years. Fishing place Tekija welcomes its fishermen in August every year, and guarantees good catch and fun. Guests and contestants remember carnival’s different contents and activities, water games and Tekija’s famous fish stew cooked in water from the Danube, alongside the revealed secret of how to catch a catfish with plop fishing techniques.
