RUDY GIULIANI VISITS OGLETHORPE

Rudy Giuliani, a 2008 presidential candidate, spoke at Oglethorpe in May. Giuliani’s visit was mentioned in profiles run by The New York Times and Newsweek and on CNN. His visit was also included in local newspapers, such as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Creative Loafing, and on all the local television networks. RODIN AT OGLETHORPE OU GOLF RANKED #1 IN NATION

The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art featured 35 sculptures by Auguste Rodin this fall in Rodin: In His Own Words, selections from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation. OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY

The Oglethorpe men’s golf team claimed the school’s first-ever number one national ranking in the final Golf World/ Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll of the fall season. The men Julia Gates ’08 won two of their five fall events, placed second in one and third in the other two. Led by eight-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach-of-the-Year Jim Owen and senior Academic and Athletic First Team All-American Taylor Urbanski ’08, Oglethorpe has placed in the top five in each of the past four Division III National Championships. Last spring the men finished in fifth place with Urbanski shooting 12-over-par to finish fifth individually. On the women’s team, Julia Gates ’08 set a school record by placing 18th in individual competition last year. The OU golf team received recognition from several publications, including Georgia Golf and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
