Free online workshops offer help for chronic diseases

he National Council on Aging and Stanford University have teamed up to offer online workshops for people living with chronic diseases. The Better Choices, Better Health™ workshops are designed to help people who have ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, lung disease and arthritis, with self-management techniques. The six-week, guided program offers participants the opportunity to connect with one another online, do self-tests and other activities. A pair of trained facilitators moderate each workshop. Participants share tips on dealing with pain, fatigue and stress and learn about nutrition

and exercise choices from one another and the experts. All of the information is designed to help patients learn better ways to talk with their doctors and family about their health. Because of support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is no cost to participate in the workshops. There are no set class times. Participants log in and join the session at times best suited for them. For more information on the free workshops, visit https://selfmanage.org/BetterHealth/SignUp.
