Major-specific University scholarships These scholarships are funded by contributions to the Northwest Foundation or by private donors and are specific to designated majors. Visit nwmissouri.edu/finaid/majorspecific.htm for full eligibility requirements and contact information for separate application. Most major-specific scholarships can be applied for by completing the Standard Scholarship Application. This application can be found in CatPAWS once a student has been accepted.*Major-specific and private scholarship award amounts funded through the Northwest Foundation may fluctuate and are contingent upon funding. The deadline date for the Standard Scholarship Application is Feb. 1, 2014.

Given in memory of Dr. Charles Hawkins, professor emeritus of accounting, in recognition of his years of distinguished service to Northwest. Applicant must be a full-time, first-trimester freshman majoring in accounting. ■■

KAREN HAWKINS MEMORIAL ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded in memory of Karen Hawkins, accounting graduate of Northwest and daughter of Dr. Charles and Jackie Hawkins. Criteria are the same as for the Charles Hawkins Accounting Scholarship. ■■

AGRICULTURE AGRICULTURE CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENTS AWARD

Award is given to the highest individual in each of the 24 fall and spring FFA/ Agriculture CDE areas. If highest individual does not apply to Northwest, the second highest individual is eligible using the same eligibility requirements. To be eligible, students must apply and be accepted into an agriculture program at Northwest by March 1 of his or her senior year of high school. The Award will be credited to the student’s account and can be used for tuition and fees by the student when he or she enrolls at Northwest the following fall and spring trimesters. ■■

Awarded to a student with a declared major in agriculture. ■■

DEAN E. GINGRICH AND JEAN D. GINGRICH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to an incoming freshman declaring a major in agriculture. Students who attended high school in Nodaway or Gentry counties and can show financial need will be given first preference. If there are no applications from those counties, the area will be expanded to Worth, Andrew, Holt and Atchison counties. If there are no applicants from above areas, students from other geographic locations who are majoring in agriculture will be considered. ■■

R. R. MILLER SCHOLARSHIP

Recipient shall be enrolled in at least 12 hours for the fall and spring trimesters and have declared a major in agriculture. Preference will be given to students from Winston, Mo., or Daviess County in Missouri or any town in northwest Missouri. Financial need will be leading criteria. ■■

AUGUST STELTER SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to an entering freshman who has declared a major in any of the disciplines available from the Department of Agricultural Sciences. Recipient must be considered a full-time student. The scholarship is non-renewable. ■■

DR. MARVIN D. COMBS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Available to first-time and continuing students who are graduates of high schools in Worth, Gentry, Harrison or Nodaway counties, who have declared a major in one of the disciplines housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and who are enrolled on a full-time basis at Northwest. This scholarship may be renewed by maintaining at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Download the application at nwmissouri.edu/finaid/ departments.htm. ■■

Awarded to an incoming freshman. Preference will be given to a Lexington High School graduate with a declared major in agriculture. ■■

Must have minimum GPA of 2.50, financial need and a declared major within the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies, with first preference to business majors.
