Enjoy yourself. -Auditório (Auditorium) Built in 1978, the auditorium is a building with a modern architecture style and glass as its predominant material, in order to integrate the space with the surrounding park. The Felicia Leiner Museum is located in this park, with a valuable collection of sculptures donated to the town by Felicia Lerner herself, a renowned artist. The Winter Festival (a classical music festival with musicians from all over the world) takes place in the auditorium during July. Abernéssia map D 2 Belvedere Located in the beginning of SP-123 (the road which runs from Campos do Jordão to Dutra motorway), this belvedere has a beautiful view of Lajeado Valley, the rural area of Campos do Jordão, from where many of the products of the little fair — which takes place every Saturday morning, close to the Cedar Park (Parque dos Cedros) — come from. Belvedere Abernéssia map M 1 Beneditinas This Benedictine convent is situated in the middle of a gorgeous wood close to the centre in Vila Abernéssia. Homemade sweets, cards made with flowers, honey and products made with it, artistic collages can be bought there. A lot of tourists like to visit its chapel. The Benedictine Sisters are known for their amiability when receiving visitors and good taste. It is worth feeling the peace and harmony present in the convent. Abernéssia map H 6 Boulevard Geneve Built in 1984, by Lélio Gomes, in a European style, where all the structure of the building is made of wood, it is an exact reproduction of an Austrian Village. One of the most diversified centres for shopping is located in the Boulevard. Capivari map D 16 Ducha de Prata It is one of the oldest tourist sights in the town and consists of a series of cascades and douches that were once used by people to bathe. Today the place receive visitors because of its diversified souvenir trade. Capivari map I 15 Cavalos & Charretes (Horses and Buggies) In several spots around the town you can find horses for rent; most of them are docile, suitable for people who have never ridden a horse before. Close to the chair lift (Teleférico), you can rent buggies and go for a charming ride through the town. Fonte Simão (Simão Spring) It is one of the oldest and most traditional springs in the town. Inhabited by squirrels and wild birds, it guards in its trees the charm of an old Campos do Jordão. For more than ten years Chocolate Caseiro Montanhês (Montanhês Homemade Chocolate) has maintained the place. Capivari map G 17

EFCJ – Estrada de Ferro Campos do Jordão (Campos do Jordão Railways) Campos do Jordão Railways, also part of the town traditions, connects Campos do Jordão to the district of Pindamonhangaba, in Paraíba Valley. It is a magnificent trip through two mountains that lasts approximately two hours, passing through the highest railway spot in Brazil. The company also offers a tram service which connects the main neighbourhoods of the town. Abernéssia map I 6 (see pg. 70) Gruta Dos Crioulos (Creoles’ Cave) It is a large cave located under a huge stone which, according to the legend, used to be a hiding place for the slaves who had escaped from the surrounding farms and caravans which carried gold to Paraty. It is a magnificent monolith propped against the mountain slope, with several excavations where the slaves had supposedly lived. Jaguaribe map C 10 Horto Florestal It is the oldest state park in Brazil, with an area representing one third of the district of Campos do Jordão. Several studies in many fields, aiming at the knowledge of the ecology in the area, are conducted there. Its main activities include trout breeding, tracks and a nursery garden. Trained personnel are always there to provide any further information — in Portuguese. Capivari map A 20 (see pg. 70) Minalba Marisa Spring is located in Campos do Jordão. The water from this spring is bottled and then receives the name MINALBA, considered one of the most famous mineral water brands in Brazil, which shows the quality of the springs in Campos do Jordão. Capivari map B 14 Palácio Boa Vista (Boa Vista Palace) Built to be the official summer residence of the State Government, with a highly valuable collection that can be enjoyed accompanied by trained guides, just like in the best museums throughout the world. Abernéssia map G 5 Parque das Cerejeiras (The Cherry Tree Park) One of the most pleasant tracks for jogging is located in the park, surrounded by one hundred year old trees and cherry trees. It is the park in front of the fire brigade, with physical exercise apparatus and playground for the children, who can run freely through the park without the risk of getting hurt. Capivari map F 13 Parque dos Cedros (The Cedar Park) A very pleasant spot, near the town centre in Vila Abernéssia, with a playground. The Municipal Council for the Environment, the headquarters of Jaguara Scouts Group and the House of the Lawyer of OAB (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil)
