Cameron Blount

Second Year Athletic Director Arkansas-Little Rock, 1992

A new direction for Northwest sports began in June 2010 with the hiring of Cameron Blount as athletic director, replacing Donny Castle who retired after 10 seasons at the helm. Blount has worked at Northwest since 2002 as the director of intramural sports and recreation. His duties included overseeing intramural sports as well as supervising the Union Gym, fitness center, dance studio, and game room. Blount also served as an adjunct instructor for health classes such as tennis, badminton, golf, and fitness and conditioning. Before his employment at Northwest, Blount worked for eight years at the Baddour Center in Senatobia as a resident manager and director of Vocational Services from 1995 through 2002. A Northwest alumnus, Blount played baseball for the Rangers during the 1987 and 1988 seasons. Blount played second base and led Northwest to a record of 33-12 during his sophomore year in 1988. The Rangers were Region XXIII and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division champions that season and runners-up for the state title. Blount finished his baseball career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was selected All-TAAC Conference in 1990. Blount also earned a bachelor’s degree in health education and a minor in sociology. Blount lettered four seasons as a member of the baseball team at Independence High School where he graduated in 1986. Blount is married to the former Kenda Davis of Dallas, Texas. They have three sons– Kyle, a sophomore baseball player at Northwest, Cayman and Kenzee.

Lori Uretsky

First Year Head Athletic Trainer Waynesburg University, 1998

Lori Uretsky became the new head athletic trainer in July of 2011, joining the Northwest family from Rutgers University. “I think Lori is going to do a great job,” first-year athletic director Cameron Blount said. “She brings a wealth of experience to us from the Division I level and has worked with almost every sport, anything from football to water polo. She had everything that we were looking for in this position and also has a bunch of great ideas. I think we will benefit greatly with her on board.” Uretsky spent the last three seasons with the Scarlet Knights, responsible for the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of the women’s basketball, men’s/women’s track and field and men’s/women’s golf teams. Prior to Rutgers, the Mercerville, N.J., native spent the 2007-08 season as the head athletic trainer for Nevada’s women’s basketball program, as well as assisting with football, softball, women’s volleyball and overseeing several graduate assistants. She also served as the administrator and a committee member of the Nevada drug testing program and the site coordinator for the NCAA Drug Testing Program. Uretsky has also served as an assistant athletic trainer at Philadelphia University and Bucknell, as well as positions at The College of New Jersey, Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville University. A collegiate softball player at Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, Pa., from 1995-98, Uretsky was the conference Freshman of the Year in 1995 and a four-time President’s Athletic Conference All-Conference selection. She attended the US Olympic Softball Team Trials in 1998 and 2002. Uretsky earned a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and a minor in biology in 1998 from Waynesburg. She completed her master’s degree in health education with a health science concentration from The College of New Jersey in 1999. She is a certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association as well as a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She is a certified massage therapist having graduated from the Myotherapy Institute of Massage in Salt Lake City, Utah, in August 2009 and is a CPR/AED Instructor by the American Red Cross.
