Again, my best greetings to all fellow hikers and backpackers!

I have a lot to talk about, so let's at it! our autumn meeting will be held on September 28 {Saturday) at the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, Ashland, Wisconsin.

At that time of year, northern Wisconsin is one of the most beautiful places in the world!

The autumn colors are not surpassed anywhere!

And the bugs are gone!

(So are most of the tourists).

The agenda for the meeting appears elsewhere in this Newsletter.

It is a good one!

The National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service and the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute are all cooperating to make this a memorable time You are on the shores of Gitchi Gumi of Hiawatha fame.

Lak superior is the largest fresh water body {acre-wise) in the world and the waters are still essentially pure and crystal clear!

Following the meeting we will have our 60 mile hike on the North country Trail through the beautiful Chequamegon National Forest. we will have guides {Forest service Rangers) accompanying us and we can camp in the Forest service campgrounds.

Camping gear will be transported via crest service busses to the campsites each day.

For those ho only want to hike a day or two, or who would prefer to tay in motels, we have vehicle support for you too.

Steve orenson, our Wisconsin board member, will hike with us and e is prepared to continue hiking on the trail corridor to he Brule River state Forest, if any of you can spend the xtra time. e are leaving no stone unturned ational Forest hike a pleasant, xperience:

Sunday night's camp is at Perch Lake Monday night's camp is at Two Lakes Tuesday night's camp is at Beaver Lake f enough of you want it, at the last night's camp, we will ave a cook-out all ready when you come into camp.

Radio support will be furnished by the Forest Service in the unlikely event of an emergency of any sort.

So please come and "make our days".

She plans to join with the International Walkers Associatio in rediscovering sections of the 1000 mile trail formed by glaciers during the Ice Age. During that week, other hiking areas will be in Madison, Lake Geneva and in Old World Wisconsin (an outdoor museum).

This is to inform you of the future meeting guide for NCTA meetings that your organization will be interested in.

It is hoped that by the mutual sharing of such information we all will become more involved with each other.

It is further hoped that this will provide meetings as often as possible.

The NCTA Annual Spring Meeting will be the third week of May. In 1986, this will be May 17 & 18.

The Fall meeting will be the 1st or 2nd weekend of October and will depend on what part of the trail will be hosting the meeting.

The Fall meeting for this year will be September 28, 1985 at Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, Ashland, Wisconsi.

The Fall meeting for 1987 will be in Northwestern Pennsylvania, the second week of October. The exact site will be announced at a later time for somewhere in Forest or warren County.

Remember to provide the NCTA Newsletter with meeting dates as far ahead as possible: at least one year.

John Hipps POTPOURRI, continued: estern Pennsylvania Trails Association members under the leadership of Cliff Ham joined members of the AYH and NCTA n two weekends this past June and July to up-date trail aintenance and blazing in clarion and Forest Counties to stablish a good clear connection between the Baker Trail nd NCTA. A total of 15 members of the three organizations urned out for the July 13 action on the NCT. What a great nd wonderful job was done and time was bad!!!!
