Technology Classes Registration: • • •

Registration is required for all classes and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call the library location offering the class you wish to take in order to register. If you register and are late for class, your seat will be given to a stand-by. To avoid disruption, small children are not allowed in the class. Please arrange for their care during class time.

Class Descriptions Introduction to Computers I: Students will concentrate on how to use the mouse properly and the layout of the computer (this is not a typing class). Basic parts of the computer will be explained. Prerequisites: None

Excel II: Students will create spreadsheets in class and be introduced to the use of mathematical formulas for spreadsheet calculations. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, typing skills, Introduction to Excel, or some previous experience with Excel.

Introduction to Computers II: Students will build on skills learned in the Introduction to Computers I class. Upon completion students will be able to use the mouse and perform basic computer functions. Prerequisites: None

Excel III: Students will use the knowledge gained in the previous Excel classes to create a spreadsheet, write mathematic formulas and insert embedded charts. Prerequisites: Intro to Excel, Excel II, or intermediate Excel knowledge.

Introduction to the Internet: Students will be introduced to the Internet by focusing on basic Internet functions. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills.

Introduction to Access: Students will learn the basic skills required to create a database. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills.

Introduction to Email: Students will establish an email account with Yahoo and learn to generate and send email messages. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills.

Access II: Students will use the skills learned in Introduction to Access to create a database in class. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, typing skills, Introduction to Access, or some previous experience with Access.

Email II: Students will learn to use the basic features in their email accounts. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills. Must have a Yahoo email account.

Introduction to PowerPoint: Students will learn the basic features required to create a slide show presentation. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills.

Email III: Students will learn how to reply to email messages, forward email and send attachments with email. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills. Must have a Yahoo email account.

PowerPoint II: Students will create a slide show presentation and learn to add animation and sound. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, typing skills, and Introduction to PowerPoint class.

Introduction to Word: Students will be introduced to the Microsoft Word program and will gain a basic understanding of the features required to make a document. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills. Word II: Students will use the concepts learned in the Introduction to Word class to create basic documents using the Microsoft Word program. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, typing skills, and Introduction to Word class. Students are encouraged to bring a USB (thumb or flash) drive to practice using removable storage media. Introduction to Excel: Students will learn the basic skills required to create a spreadsheet. Prerequisites: Basic computer, mouse, and typing skills.

PowerPoint III: Students will use the knowledge gained in the previous PowerPoint classes to create a slide show presentation and add animation and sound. Prerequisites: Introduction to PowerPoint and PowerPoint II classes.
