Youth from the Park Place Child Life Center will be displaying their new works of art to the community. 2 PM (Family) Park Place Branch Library 9 Sat. Author Visit and Book Signing: Zenobia Chat and enjoy refreshments with guest author Zenobia, who will join us for a reading of her third book, “Lost Ones Part Two: Twisted.” 2 PM (Adults) Ongoing Drawing 101 (Part of the Teen Movement program) Thursdays @ 5 PM (May 1 & June 5) Computer aide and graphic design student Deshawn Newby teaches creative drawing techniques to enhance and foster artistic ability. (Tweens & Teens) June 25 Wed. Fair Day: Summer Reading Kick-Off ! Help us kick off SRP with fair-style fun. Enjoy games and prize drawings! 2 PM - 4 PM (Family) 28 Sat. Girl Talk! Hosted by Girls Without Dads Participate in activities and a fun conversation centered on the theme, “B F.L.Y.” (Finally Loving Yourself). Refreshments will be served! 2 PM (Tweens & Teens, 12+) Employment Workshop Monday’s @ 10:30 AM (May 5 & June 2) Need help writing a resume, cover letter, or filling out an online application? We will provide assistance and resources to help with all your job search needs. (Adults) July 12 Sat. Royal Ball at Park Place *Registration is required Hear ye, hear ye parents and loved-ones! Come watch your boys and girls magically transform into knights and princesses at our exciting afternoon of costumes, games, stories and royal treats. Space is limited. Ice Cream Matinee Wednesdays @ 5 PM (May 28 & August 27) Poetry is a painting that speaks, and when poets gather in a community to write new poems they can paint a masterpiece! Engage in writing exercises and conversation, and be inspired to write your own work of art! Experienced mentors from the Norfolk Initiative for Chess Excellence (N.I.C.E.) will be here with chess boards to teach basics for beginners and more advanced techniques for intermediate players.
