18 HEALTH&WELLNESS HEALTH & WELLNESS LINE DANCE Mondays, 1:00 pm, with Maggie Bice. Maggie has taught all levels of Line Dance for more than 15 years. Come join us, kick up your heels and have fun. Line Dancing can give you a great mind-body workout. It improves memory skill by requiring you to remember dance steps and sequences. It can help strengthen bones and muscles, increase stamina and flexibility, improve your posture and balance, and give you the opportunity to socialize at the same time. Dancing has a way of brightening up a person’s day. BODY SCULPTING Mondays & Thursdays, 5:30 pm. Body sculpting (or core conditioning) is a non-aerobic, muscle-toning class led by Chris Gary. Chris has over 20 years of experience leading health and wellness classes in Lincoln County. This type of training can give you strength, muscle tone, and may lower your risk of bone loss. FOOT CARE CLINIC First Tuesday of each month, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Jan Weathers, RN will indulge you. Appointments are required. The cost is $22.00 per treatment. Call 541 265-9617 for an appointment. MEMORY SCREENING Tuesday, November 19th National Memory Screening Day and part of (AFA’s) Alzheimer Foundation of America national initiative to promote early detection and intervention for those concerned about memory loss as well as to educate the public about successful aging. Please call ahead to book your appointment. QIGONG / WILD GOOSE Wednesdays, 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Qigong is a very old practice from China, similar to Tai Chi, which uses simple, natural movements to reduce the effects of stress, support the immune system, and improve balance, focus and memory. Barbara Turrill leads this beginner’s class for all ages and abilities, combining qigong, Brain Gym, and some basic warm-ups/ stretching. RV LINE DANCE Fridays, 6:30 - 8:00 pm. An on-going dance night at the 60+ Center, this group is open to any interested line dance participants to come and dance! TABLE TENNIS/PING PONG Wednesdays & Saturdays, 5:30 pm. The Newport 60+ Activity Center Table Tennis club meets at Yaquina View Elementary School. Master Pong, AKA Don Hunt is the club host. WII BOWLING Tuesdays, 9:30 - 10:30 am. Get creative and have some fun at the 60+ Center; see the multipurpose room transform into a three-lane bowling alley! These games are a good way to improve your senses, visually and physically, while having a great time. No Experience necessary!
