Craft Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating

You will develop a range of skills, including:

Painters and decorators work on all types of buildings and structures. Jobs can range from the re-decoration of domestic properties through to large industrial premises. The work is creative and involves working with clients and customers on colours, finishes and wallpaper patterns. Available as an Advanced Apprenticeship at NVQ Level 3.

Construction Craft Apprenticeship in Roofing

Fabricating and installing weathering leadwork, installation of double-lap roof slates, plain roof tiles and flashings, external solid render finishes, as well as stripping and reclaiming pitched roof coverings.

Length of course NVQ Level 2 (first two years) approx. 22 months, NVQ Level 3 a further 12 months Delivery: usually week release.

What would I achieve? This level 3 NVQ in Roofing Occupations provides the opportunity for individuals to specialise in roof slating and tiling.

The Trades Apprentice An apprenticeship offers structured learning in the workplace supported by a full training plan. By completing an apprenticeship you will gain valuable qualifications and more skills, that will support you as your career progresses.

Initial application process followed by three stages of entry assessment Stage 1 - For craft trades: Construction Industry Training Boards (CITB) Numerical Reasoning and Diagram Interpretation assessment For mechanical trades (electrical and gas): BPEC assessment Stage 2 - Practical assessments according to the particular trade you’re applying for and a team based activity Stage 3 - Formal interview process

What employment would I be offered? Length of course Level 2 would normally take up to 18 months and the Advanced Apprenticeship takes a further 10 to 15 months.

What would I achieve? During this course you will study functional skills as part of the training and will have the opportunity to progress on to the Advanced Level 3 in Decorative Occupations.

If successful, you would be employed on a three year fixed term contract and attend a training provider or college either on a day release or block week release basis. If you pass all your qualifications, your attendance is top notch and you show a real desire to grow with the company, a long and rewarding future career with New Charter could be yours.

You will be employed by New Charter and earn a wage, so you won’t have to go into debt whilst you get your qualifications.

This apprenticeship deals with the installation of complete electrical systems to domestic and commercial/industrial buildings.

Construction Craft Apprenticeship in Plastering You would gain a range of plastering skills including:  Rendering - sand and cement plastering applied to external walls either to protect the building from penetrative damp or for cosmetic purposes;  Floating and skimming - usually done on plasterboard, artex or old and damaged plaster to give a smooth finish

Construction Mechanical Apprenticeship as an Electrician

The course aims to provide the skills and understanding to enable you to prepare, position, install and connect wiring systems to all types of buildings. In addition you will learn all about site requirements for health and safety, how to inspect and test, commission installations, diagnose and correct electrical faults.

What would I learn as a domestic gas engineer? Construction Mechanical Apprenticeship as a Gas Engineer The Gas Industry apprenticeship covers a range of job roles in the industry. It aims to provide the skills and understanding to work in the installation, service and repair of gas appliances in a domestic environment. These appliances could include cookers, central heating systems, gas fired boilers and fires. The course allows you to gain both knowledge and practical skills to connect appliances to gas supplies, carry out regular servicing activities and find and rectify faults.

 Dry lining - putting up walls or partitions which are normally mounted to timber or metal studs and the joints will need to be taped and filled prior to decorating

During this course you would complete the NVQ Level 2 Diploma as well as learning functional skills and completing employability sessions in preparation for beginning your site based training and completing your NVQ.

During this course you would complete an NVQ Level 3 and once you have gained the experience required, you will be able to progress and learn more about renewable energy technologies.

During this course you would complete an NVQ Level 3 and once you had gained the experience required, you would then work towards registration on the Gas Safe Register.
