BEAR TRACKS I love the sharp lines and glittering glass of the Colorado Convention Center, and I think it’s most mar- velous when reflecting a pink and blue sunset. The biggest draw for me, however, is the adorable crea- ture peeking through the windows at the visitors. The Big Blue Bear is one of my favorite public art pieces, and certainly one of the most widely recognized. denverconvention.com RESTORE ADORE I love one-of-a-kind pieces, so my favorite places to shop are Denver’s array of pop up stores. I keep track of the dates and venues at the Denver Handmade Alliance, and have been lucky enough to discover treasures like Jeanne Connolly’s Vintage Renewal chairs and light fixtures, perfectly upcycled from blah to vintage glam. There is never any worry about seeing the same old thing in these shops—the inventory changes as often as the venue does. vintagerenewal.com POP CULTURE The Curtis Hotel is the coolest place to stay in downtown Denver. Every level has a different theme, and I love the funky décor. They’ve captured such an incredible and imaginative level of detail in the design. There’s nothing quite like sneaking off to the Rolling Stone Suite to make yourself feel like a rock star. thecurtis.com ART FIX Fall is prime season for the Art District on Santa Fe’s First Friday Artwalk. This is the place to rub elbows with a delightfully eclectic crowd of art enthusiasts. Less formal than a gallery opening, it’s the perfect opportunity to browse, chat with artists, sip wine, and convince friends why the abstract painting that looks like an omelet hasto go home with you. artdistrictonsantafe.com 2 4 1 3
