Postcards from God "Balance Your Christian Living” The Book of 2 John LIVE THE TRUTH 2 John 1:4-6 NIV 4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. 1. Love God Matthew 28:19-20 NIV 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” John 14:15 NIV 15 “If you love me, keep my commands.
· They put Him first in their life · They treat Him with honor and respect · They give priority to the name of God · They set aside a day for worship · They treat their parents with respect and honor · They honor and respect life · They keep their marriage vows · They respect the property of others · They tell the truth · They are grateful for what God has given them 1. Love God 2. Love Each Other John 13:34-35 NIV 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” · Seek to understand before we speak against others · Understand that people have “bad days” · Tune in to the hurts and insecurities of those around us · See potential rather than blemishes in others
· Be eager to forgive them LIVE THE TRUTH GUARD AGAINST ERROR • Jesus was a good man but he wasn’t God. • Jesus was god in the same way that all of us are gods. • Jesus did not live a sinless life • Jesus is not the only way to Heaven Danger of Going Back 2 John 1:8 NIV 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Danger of Going Ahead 2 John 1:9 NIV 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
