The film also takes viewers to San Simeon, California for unprecedented access to the famed Hearst Castle. Additional interviews with family members about the history, legacy and impact of the Hearst business on newspapers and the country in general are fascinating. Documentary writer-director Leslie Iwerks continues to excel at highlighting luminaries of the Northern California landscape following her entertaining and compelling film, The Pixar Story of 2007. About the filmmaker Leslie Iwerks is an Emmy and Oscar nominated director and the granddaughter of famed Disney animation legend and designer of Mickey Mouse, Ub Iwerks. Leslie has produced and directed short/ feature length documentaries and digital content for Walt Disney, Pixar Animation Studios, Hearst Corporation, Lucasfilm, HBO, Bio, Starz, National Geographic, NRDC, Sierra Club, among many others. Her films have covered subjects from environmental themes (Dirty Oil, Downstream, Pipe Dreams) to social justice themes (Recycled Life), to animation (Industrial Light and Magic: Creating the Impossible).
