Become an important decision-maker and play a key role in children’s lives. Learn about child development, planning curriculum, program management, and working with diverse families. The Early Childhood and Elementary Education Compacts make the transfer process seamless to four-year college and university teacher preparation programs to become certified to teach nursery school to grade two. LAS - Communications Track (LAC) d e g t Become exposed to the field of communications and a variety of mass media subject areas. The LAC curriculum provides an excellent overview of the communications field and a solid foundation for transfer to more specialized communications programs at four-year colleges and universities. LAS - Elementary Education Track (LAEL) d e g t This program satisfies the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education Elementary Transfer Compact for transfer to a state college or university bachelor’s degree program. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree, you could become an elementary school teacher. General Studies Degree d e g l o v If your career and educational goals are not yet firmly defined, the General Studies program provides a flexible curriculum allowing you to explore many different disciplines. If you plan to transfer to a four-year college or university, you should consider the Liberal Arts & Sciences degree. LAS - Exercise & Sport Science Track (LAX) d g t Prepare for careers in personal training or for transfer into a related degree program at a four-year college or university. Pursue a career as a fitness leader, instructor, lifeguard, or personal trainer. You will learn about aquatics, personal safety (including CPR), organizational and legal considerations of the fitness industry, and practical applications of individual and group fitness. Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS) Degree d e g l o t Consider the Liberal Arts & Sciences program or one of its tracks if you intend to transfer to a four-year college or university. Through a wide variety of electives, the LAS degree gives you the flexibility to choose courses that fit your interest. You will also gain a strong educational foundation for transfer to a four-year college or university. LAS - History & Political Science Track (LAHP) d e g o t This program is for those who want a strong background in history and political science and plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a degree in history, political science, or government. With a bachelor’s degree, you may pursue careers in government or politics, teach history/political science, or go on to earn a master’s degree in public policy, management, or a juris doctor degree to practice law. Students in this program also benefit from opportunities to perform in award-winning Theatre at the Mount productions, to gain hands-on experience working in Theatre at the Mount’s fully equipped scene shop, which includes state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment.
