The Murray State Racers used a break-out second half and ran away with a 79-60 victory against Southeast Missouri State at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. MSU has won six straight games at SEMO since last losing there in 2003. Leading by six at the half, the Racers blew the game open in the second half when they started with a 13-5 run in the first seven minutes. When Tyler Holloway hit a three-pointer and Tony Easley scored a three-point play, the Racers were in front 56-42 with 13:38 remaining. Miles had a career-high five treys and his 24 points was his best in a Racer uniform, he also tossed in six assists. Ivan Aska came off the MSU bench to provide 12 points, while Holloway and Easley each scored 11. Jeffery McClain had eight rebounds as MSU beat SEMO on the boards 34-21, including a 13-6 edge on the offensive glass. MSU also had a season-high 20 assists, matching the 20 they had in the first meeting with the Redhawks on Jan. 24. With the win, MSU clinched their 22nd straight winning season in the OVC, the streak is the best in the nation. MSU is also closing on clinching their 22nd overall winning season, the fifth-best streak in the country.

The Murray State Racers dropped a 69-60 game to visiting Louisiana Tech in the ESPNU BracketBusters series at the RSEC. The Racers are 17-19 all-time against teams from the Western Athletic Conference and 2-4 against Louisiana Tech. Tyler Holloway moved into second place on the MSU all-time list for made three-point baskets when he hit one at the 16:33 mark of the opening half. Holloway passed Justin Burdine (1998-02) who is in third place with 198 and hit four for the day to move his total to 202. Tyler now takes aim at No. 2 Don Mann (1986-89) who has 204. Tony Easley scored his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. It was the sixth double-double of the season for the Racers and the fifth for Easley. After beating Rice (2005), Illinois-Chicago (2006), and Rider (2007), the Racers have lost their last two games in the EPSNU series. Last season MSU lost to Indiana State and are now 3-2.

The Murray State Racers defended their home court with a 74-59 victory over UT Martin. The Racers took on the Ohio Valley Conference first place team and won the game with a large dose of defense. MSU’s defensive effort held the nation’s second leading scorer UTM’s Lester Hudson to less than 20 points for the first time in 28 games dating back to the last time MSU defeated UTM at the RSEC, March 1, 2008. Hudson had 15 for the Skyhawks, while MSU’s Isacc Miles scored a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. It is believed to be the first triple-double in MSU history. Freshman Ivan Aska scored a career-high 23. He added 11 rebounds for his second double-double at MSU. Miles’ 11 assists was one off the RSEC record of 12 by Aubrey Reese against Alabama State in 1999. MSU is now 19-0 all-time against UTM in Murray and lead the series 34-3. Tyler Holloway moved into second place on the MSU all-time list for made three-point baskets with 205. He passed Don Mann (1986-89) who has 202. MSU has held opponents to 60 or less points in eight of their last 10 games and have won all eight.
