SPRINGFIELD -- The Missouri State Lady Bears cracked the 90-point barrier for a second consecutive game Friday evening, out-running Bradley for a 91-86 Missouri Valley Conference victory at JQH Arena. Kenzie Williams hit six 3-pointers on the way to a career-high 23 points to lead ive Lady Bears (12-10, 4-6 MVC) in double igures, while the Braves fell to 9-12 and 3-7 in league play. Missouri State never trailed in the game and led by as many as 13 points in each half, but the persistent Braves threw numerous runs at the Lady Bears, the last of which made it a two-point contest in the game’s inal minute. Williams’ sixth trey of the game gave MSU an 86-76 lead with just 1:40 remaining before Bradley ripped off a 7-0 run in 55 seconds to make it a one-possession game at 86-83 with 45 seconds to go. A frenetic last few seconds included two Karly Buer free throws for an 88-83 lead followed by a BU 3-pointer and MSU turnover that gave the Braves the ball down a score with 32 seconds left. Hannah Wilkerson became the MSU hero after that, stealing a BU pass with 18 seconds to play, making one free throw, then grabbing an offensive rebound on the second of two MSU free throw misses with 7.7 ticks left before draining a pair from the charity stripe for the inal margin. Williams added a blocked shot with 8.2 seconds remaining during the inal sequence. The irst 38 minutes of the game played out much like the inal two with the Lady Bears building substantial leads, only to see Bradley chip away. MSU led 14-8 at the irst media timeout and was ahead by double digits at 21-10 on a Whitney Edie 3-pointer with 13:19 left in the irst half. The Braves pulled within ive points before Tyonna Snow and Williams book-ended a 14-2 MSU run with 3-pointers for a 37-21 score and 6:30 left in the period. Missouri State’s 16-point lead evaporated in less than ive minutes as the Braves used an 18-2 run to tie the game at 39-39, and Christiana Shorter, Williams and Buer each scored three points in a 9-0 run over the inal 77 seconds of the irst half. MSU was back ahead by 13 with 18:09 to go in the game, and saw a 65-53 lead cut to 65-62 with 10:51 to go. The Braves pulled to 70-69 with 8:35 left before the Lady Bears went on a 12-0 run and held BU without a point for over four minutes to lead 82-69 at the 5:48 mark. SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State scored a season-high 91 points, placed ive scorers in double igures and shot 50 percent from the loor Sunday afternoon on the way to a 91-76 victory over visiting Illinois State at JQH Arena. The Lady Bears (11-10, 3-6 Missouri Valley Conference) never trailed after an early 9-0 run and the defense clamped down in the second half, holding Illinois State (13-8, 5-4) to 7-for-33 shooting over the inal 16:26 after the Redbirds closed the score to 55-54. Missouri State answered ISU’s threat at that point with a 7-0 run in the span of 43 seconds, using back-to-back layups from Christiana Shorter and a 3-point play from Kenzie Williams to lead 62-54. Desiree Phillips converted another 3-point play a minute later for a 65-56 lead, the Redbirds cut it to ive points, but the Lady Bears responded with a 9-0 run that included three key offensive rebounds and ended with a Williams 3-pointer from the wing for a 74-60 lead and 8:38 on the clock. The Lady Bears pushed the lead to 16 points at 81-65 with 4:43 to go and Illinois State had it back to a 10-point game just 40 seconds later before Whitney Edie answered with two buckets and Tyonna Snow added a free throw for an 87-72 margin with 2:45 left to thwart any further Redbird rallies. Illinois State started the game with two quick 3-pointers before the MSU defense held the Redbirds without a point for nearly four minutes while the offense went on a 9-0 run that eventually turned into a 13-2 spurt on Bry Snow’s layup at the 13:55 mark for a 17-8 score. MSU’s lead was as many as 10 in the irst half after Phillips hit a trey for 28-18 with 10:22 to play, and ISU’s Candace Sykes tied the score at 43-all with a 3-pointer with 1:57 left before Karly Buer knocked down two free throws and Edie scored with two seconds left for a 47-43 halftime advantage. LADY BEARS

SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State battled from 13 points down in the second half Friday to force a 56-all tie but was never able to take the lead as Indiana State earned a 71-67 Missouri Valley Conference victory at JQH Arena in Spring ield. The Sycamores (12-7, 4-4 MVC) turned the game in their favor with a 21-4 run that took roughly ive minutes of game time and spanned both halves to build a 47-34 advantage that was too much for the Lady Bears (10-10, 2-6) to overcome. The teams combined for ive scoring runs of 7-0 or better in the irst half, including the Lady Bears using a 7-0 spurt to go ahead 30-26 with 3:04 to go in the period. Kenzie Williams began the run with a 3-pointer and Missouri State seemed to grab momentum with four free throws as a result of the Sycamores picking up both a personal and technical foul on the same play, but Indiana State countered with a 13-2 run to close the half with a 39-32 advantage. After the Lady Bears scored to begin the second period, Indiana State rattled off another 8-0 run to lead 47-34 just 2:34 into the half. Missouri State answered with an 8-0 run of its own that included two Williams steals that led to baskets 21 seconds apart, and added three more steals over the next four minutes that culminated with a NiJay Gaines layup that got MSU within a point at 53-52 with 10:03 to play. Hannah Wilkerson’s jumper with 6:18 remaining tied the game at 56-apiece, but the visitors ired back with a 3-pointer to lead 6358 with exactly four minutes remaining. The Lady Bears were within two points with 2:47 left and again with 52.3 seconds on the clock when Karly Buer knocked down an elbow jumper. The teams exchanged turnovers over the next 16 seconds and the Sycamores hit two free throws before Tyonna Snow made a pair of foul shots for the Lady Bears after a trio of missed 3-pointers with eight seconds remaining. Indiana State then hit two more free throws with 7.2 seconds on the clock to secure the win. The Sycamores shot 50 percent for the game and out-rebounded Missouri State 39-26. The Lady Bears shot 41.8 percent overall and forced 24 ISU turnovers. Whitney Edie led MSU with 19 points and seven rebounds. Snow added 11 points and four steals, and Gaines scored a career-high nine points. Anna Munn scored 27 for the Sycamores.
