Senior Associate Director of Athletics/ Senior Woman Administrator 10th Year at Missouri State

Casey Comoroski enters her fifth full year as associate director of athletics and her 10th year overall at Missouri State. Comoroski oversees the operations of several of the institution’s 16 men’s and women’s sports programs. In addition, she has oversight of the Bears’ compliance, athletic training and strength and conditioning programs and serves as the primary personnel administrator for intercollegiate athletics. Comoroski joined the MSU staff in March 2003 as assistant director of athletics for compliance, a post in which she served until succeeding Darlene Bailey as associate athletics director in September of 2006. A native of Nanticoke, Pa., Comoroski came to MSU from Coastal Carolina University, where she had been assistant athletics director for compliance since 1998. At Coastal Carolina, Comoroski’s responsibilities included overseeing budgets for some of the school’s 17 sports, working in game operations, supervising the hosting of conference championships and directing summer sports camps. She was honored as the Big South Compliance Director of the Year in 2000. Comoroski graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1994 and earned a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 1996. She served one year as an intern in the Syracuse University athletics compliance office and spent two years in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference compliance section. A four-year starter in women’s basketball at St. Bonaventure, Comoroski was inducted into the school’s athletics hall of fame in February 2007. Additionally, she was inducted into the Luzerne County (Pa.) Sports Hall of Fame in August 2010.

Assistant Director of Athletics for Academics and Student Services First Year at Missouri State

Monica Jones begins her first year with Missouri State after being selected as the department’s new assistant director of athletics for academics and student services in late June. A 1995 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Jones comes to MSU after serving as interim director of student-athlete development at her alma mater. She had been assisting with the university’s student development operations, after serving as associate director of Arkansas’ student-athlete academic support and achievement since December 2008. Previously, Jones spent 2002-08 at the University of Louisville working first as assistant director of campus life and later as assistant director for advising and student support services. She began her professional career at Arkansas in 1997 as an athletic academic counselor and advanced to academic advisor for the College of Education and Health Professions in July 2000. Before moving to Louisville in December 2002, she also served as the director of multicultural student services at Arkansas. Jones is a native of Malvern, Ark., and is part of the 2011-13 class for the NACADA Emerging Leaders program and earned her master’s degree in counseling from Arkansas in 1999. She will complete her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville in August 2013.

Missouri State alumnus Rick Kindhart is in his fifth year directing MSU’s athletics communications efforts and his fourth as assistant director of athletics. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, he is the primary contact for MSU football and men’s basketball. During his tenure at MSU, Kindhart has served on the NCAA SelfStudy Committee, University Marketing Council and is part of the Greater Springfield Public Relations Advisory Committee. During his 20 years in the sports information profession, he has earned a number of national writing and publication awards, including a CoSIDA second in the nation award in 2012 for the Missouri State men’s basketball game programs and a third in nation honor for the same MSU publication in 2010. He has also worked on the media relations teams for several national and regional events, including the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball St. Louis Regional, 2006 Final Four and 1995 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships in Atlanta. A 1991 honors graduate of MSU, Kindhart joined the MSU staff in July 2008 after serving as assistant executive director for communications for the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) for a total of 11 years. He received his master’s degree in 1993 from Southeast Missouri State, where he was assistant SID from 1991-93. From 1993-96, he was sports information director at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. He and his wife, Christy, have two children, Matt and Shelby.
