Conference Tournament Results Conference Championship Tournaments   MSU was a member of the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association from when the MIAA added baseball in 1966 until MSU left the league in 1981. MIAA baseball was played in divisions from 1966 to 1970, and again starting in 1979, with MSU competing in the Southern Division. From 1971 to 1978, league teams played a round robin schedule to determine the conference champion. #MSU MIAA League Championship Series results against Northern Division winners:   1969:  MSU beat Northwest Missouri State, two games to none, in Springfield; MSU champion   1970:  MSU beat Central Missouri State, two games to none, in Warrensburg; MSU champion   1979:  MSU beat Northwest Missouri State, two games to one, in Springfield; MSU champion   1980:  Northwest Missouri State beat MSU, two games to none, in Maryville; Northwest Missouri State champion   1981:  Central Missouri State beat MSU, two games to one, in Springfield; Central Missouri State champion   The first Mid-Continent Conference championship was decided by a double elimination tourney in Chicago involving all seven league schools. MCC regular season baseball was played in divisions beginning in 1985, with the top two teams in each division advancing to a league tournament. The 1985 tourney was held in Charleston, Ill., and returned permanently to Chicago in 1986. The MVC tourney is a double elimination event which has, in some years, involved all of the league’s baseball schools. Beginning in 1992 and lasting through 2009, only the top six teams in the final regular season standings advanced to the league meet. In 2010, the tournament expanded to include all eight league schools, as UNI departed following the 2009 season. The tourney champ receives the MVC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. Since the Bears joined the league, the tournament has been held in Wichita, Kan. (1991-1994 and 1996-1997, 1999-2003, 2005-06, 2008-10), Springfield, Mo. (2004, 2007), Springfield, Ill. (1995) and Evansville, Ind. (1998).
