Bears Attendance Nationally Missouri State has ranked in the top 50 nationally in attendance 16 of the last 22 seasons. While MSU landed just outside the top 50 in 2010, the Missouri Valley Conference placed four schools in the top 35. The Bears drew 11,249 fans in 16 home dates for an 703 average, the fifth-best mark among MVC schools behind Wichita State with a 2,501 average, UNI with a 2,116 average, Illinois State with an average of 1,138 and Creighton with an average of 1,101. The high point in the attendance rankings came in 1992, when the Bears were 18th with a 962 average, and they ranked 20th the following season with an average mark of 1,102. Missouri State was 34th in the attendance rankings in 1989, 23rd in 1990, 28th in 1991, 30th in 1994, 32nd in 1995 and 27th in 1996 and 25th in 2002, 31st in 2004, 28th in 2005 and 30th in 2006. Hawai’i led the nation for the 16th year in a row, averaging 6,136 fans per home match, over 1,500 better than Nebraska’s 4,632 mark, which was second. Hawaii’s season total of 116,584 was the 15th-straight year the Rainbow Wahine have gone over 100,000 in attendance. Missouri State Volleyball Attendance Year By Year Attendance Hammons Student Center Records With an average home crowd of over 800 per match over the past 18 seasons, Missouri State ranks as one of the nation’s top college volleyball attractions. The Bears’ home attendance total has eclipsed 8,000 in 18 of the last 20 years and has been over 11,000 in each of the last eight. The Bears set a new standard for attendance in 2005 when Missouri State drew 19,199 fans in 17 home dates for a 1,129 average. The average beat the previous best set in 2002. That season Missouri State had a home total of 15,690 and an average of 1,121. The 2005 total attendance eclipsed the 2003 total and is now the new record for total crowd in a season. Missouri State set new attendance records for home season total and per match average five years in a row from 1989 to 1993, and its home average more than tripled during that stretch, going from 355 in 1988 to 1,102 in 1993. Year by Year at Home The Missouri State volleyball team has compiled an impressive 366-952 (.791) record at home since moving to Hammons Student Center in 1976. The Bears have 33 winning seasons in 35 years in the 8,846-seat facility. Missouri State had a 14-0 home mark in 1988 to close a school-record 15-match home win streak, and the Bears were unbeaten at home in 1976 with a 10-0-2 mark. Missouri State has also had eight seasons in which it lost just once at home, including 1981, when the Bears won a record 16 home matches.
