Buildings in Alachua County Government In 2006 there were 48 Alachua County facilities (not counting leased space) totaling approximately 980,000 square feet. For that space, 19,257,309 kW-hours electricity was needed which was a 2.9% increase over 2004 consumption. The electricity was purchased at a total cost of $1.5 million.1

Total utility costs for this chart in all sectors is approximately $1.6 million. Water and energy efficiency upgrades at the County Jail are expected to result in considerable long term savings and conservation of natural resources.
