These buildings are part of a design contest arranged by the “Parque Tecnologico de Antioquia”. The need of this project is to give a touristic focus to this thematic park, designing a hotel and its complementary spaces. The idea is to give a special touch to the design, introducing the natural component and applying sustainability to the functionality of the whole complex. the program of the building is developed in a way that its different uses can be compatible with their surrounding environment, this is why the hotel rooms are located towards the lake and the mountain; the gym, which is more dynamic, is located towards the event plaza, the whole complex is design in a way that its aspect fits perfectly in the idea of turning everything into a natural environment.

The building has to be part of the nature, that's the main attraction for the entire complex, this is why natural references become essential in the design process and it will help to conceive the interior and exterior components of the building. Symbiosis, now becomes part of the conception of the building, this concept now brings an essential part of the nature, changing appearance through time. This idea of symbiosis will give the building a changing aspect, allowing the nature to become a part of the building instead of seeing it as bad thing; this will help also to the thematic concept that is necessary to attract people to this place. Nature will educate people in the beginning, starting when they arrive to the hotel to the time when they're leaving it.

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION FOR THE EDUCATION IN COLOMBIA

The Education Ministry of the Republic of Colombia is promoting the idea of education with equitative access criteria, encouraging people to develop plans that will improve the quality of education in the country. The physic infrastructure of the educative spaces in the most distant places in Colombia is precarious and insufficient. The conditions for the education of the less favoured communities it's now affected by the absence of educative spaces, and the absence of regular formation generates illiteracy and unemployment conditions for the people. This situation we can even see it in the outsides of the principal cities of Colombia. This proposal is based on a sustainable, modular and expandable singular itinerant school module that can be built in the perimeter of the cities, high slope terrains and locations where low economic resources population reside, without the intervention of qualify labour. The project eliminates the physic boundaries of the traditional school module and integrates the natural environment to it; therefore these spaces gain the capability to educate via the nature using the minimum of artificial resources. These modules are conceived as open environments that allow seeing what's happening inside of them, this completely abandon the idea of close education and open it to everyone, turning them as public theatre for the communities involved in these projects.

INTERVENTION OF TABORDA SCHOOL, SCHOOL IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF MEDELLIN CITY

SEEKING FOR AN IDEA

The main idea of these school modules is that they can be installed in any place any time; this is why an experimentation process was developed during the entire design studio, where the module was inserted in existing buildings, public spaces, irregular surfaces and other possible situations to attend. for a more detailed study, in the design studio was selected an existing school called “Taborda” located in the outskirts of Medellin City, this school gathered all the problems mentioned before, where we saw poor quality spaces and a lack of natural environments for the joy of young people. There we implement all the ideas of open school education thanks to this school module.

SUSTAINABILITY OF THE SCHOOL MODULE

The module must provide itself with most of its resources; it must sustain itself with electricity and water, and also trying to affect in the less harmful way the natural environment. Also it has to be functional so it can fulfil all the needs of the community. Wood is the main component of it, this component is easy to get in Colombia, and also very cheap and allows storing it in small places for the future construction of each module.

INSERTING THE TOWER IN THE URBAN CONTEXT

The main focus of the professional work in the construction company where I was working is the design and construction of residential buildings. In all the process i have participated in the general design to the details of the building and even following the construction process, supervising that everything is built as it was designed. What we have here is a typical residential module, design according to the needs of the people of Medellin city and also following a commercial study developed by an immobility research company, this module has the same program distribution in every project, this allows to resize it in its spaces according to the specific socioeconomic people that we're targeting in the moment. Having this residential module, allows us to play in multiple ways with the building type, as result we can develop towers with 2 to 6 apartments per floor. What makes every project different is its social spaces, what we have to offer here is what makes the difference in the commercial success of every project, where we can have ecological pathways, pools, sport complex, indoor entertaining, etc. all these fitting to the commercial research and the space available to do it. The social spaces are placed in the back of the project lot, so all its activities can be developed in the natural environment that we design, the residential towers helps to have these spaces isolated from the accelerate life of the city.

The general idea is to make a sustainable plan for the Cadbury Warehouse. Based on an analysis of the existing warehouse, I took its function and make it more efficient in energy consumption just by doing some simple geometric variations, improvements that has as main objective making a better place to work, this by bringing nature to the workers and plus making this place better for the local biodiversity. What I'm looking too is that this place can become the new centre for the public activities, this by having a place that can allow a multiple events.
