Grand Terroir Tautavel & Pic Saint Loup The Grand Terroir wines reflect extraordinary quality from small village AOC’s. Tautavel, located in the Cotes de Roussillon is one of the 4 sub appellations of the AOC and is quite an exciting project for Gerard Bertrand. Gerard is working closely with the leading co-ops of Tautavel as partners for the next decade in producing the majority of wine from this outstanding village. Fleshy, sauvage fruited wines with beautiful length and depth. The vineyards of Pic Saint Loup are located amongst the scrubland known as the ‘haut garrigue’ and are dominated by two distinctive peaks, the Montagne de l’Hortus and the Pic St Loup itself. Because the immediate region is the transition point from the coastal plain to the higher, inland plateau, its climate is noticeably cooler than many other Languedoc wine growing regions. The wines from this rugged terrain generally show very forward, upfront fruit, spicy elegance, and more refinement than others from the region.
