Specimen exhibits will be judged for quality of form, color, size, foliage, and condition. (No buds or excess foliage). 3. Specimen exhibits will be placed in white vases provided by the fair. No other container will be accepted or necessary. 4. Enter three blooms per specimen exhibits unless otherwise specified. 5. Arrangements will be judged for flower quality, design and suitability. The container will be considered part of the exhibit. 6. Arrangement will be considered in Lots 525-561 only. 7. Plants which are flowering plants must be shown in bloom. SPECIMENS For best display condition all flowers. a) Cut early in morning or afternoon. b) Use sharp knife, cut on slant. c) Place immediately in warm water. d) Remove all foliage below waterline. e) Let flower stand for 12 to 14 hours in a cool place, out of drafts. f) Stems with sticky sap should be singed on cut edge or sealed by placing lower end of stem in boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes. g) Woody stems should be crushed to increase water. Exhibits must be in standard pint, quart, or half pint jars, unless otherwise specified, with new lids and rings. 2. Jars must be jars manufactured for canning. 3. All foods must be processed according to the recommended methods of the Extension Service of Minnesota. A boiling water bath is used for processing jam and jellies, fruits, tomatoes, and pickles and a pressure canner must be used for low acid vegetables and meats. Your processing time must be written on lid or label. 4. Jams and jellies must be sealed using a 2-piece lid. Paraffin seals are not allowed. 5.
