NOVICE DOG CLASS Does your dog think his name is “NO!” or maybe “OFF!” Then this is the class you and your dog need! Some of the exercises to be covered include: not jumping up, sit, down, come when called and walking on a loose leash. Owners will gain an understanding of how dogs learn and how to establish a stronger positive relationship with their pet. Do not bring your dog to the first class meeting. $65 DATES

BASIC PISTOL/NRA CERTIFICATION Co-sponsored by the Shawnee Shooting Sports Club (SSSC), the National Rifle Association (NRA) Basic Pistol Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and shooting a pistol safely. Through this course, students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Course will also help prepare the student for other NRA courses. Students will spend six hours in the MCPAC classroom (three hours each on Friday evening and Saturday morning) and at least three hours on the SSSC’s range on Saturday afternoon. The SSSC will provide safety equipment, firearms and ammunition for the course. Students will be allowed to bring firearms to the range for practice after the course range exercise is completed. This course meets the requirement for Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit. Minimum - 6 participants; maximum - 20. Registration deadline two weeks before class. TREETOP CANOPY TOUR Ever wanted to fly like a bird? Now is your chance with Parks and Rec and Ace Adventure Resort! This treetop canopy tour will take you along the rim of the New River Gorge in West Virginia on 9 different zip lines. Some of the zips are as high as 100 feet in the air and 800 feet in length, reaching speeds of 40 mph! This year Ace has added dual zips so you can experience the thrill of flight with your significant other or friend. Dinner will be on your own at a quick stop on the way home.
