Moda offers 2 sizes of Jelly Rolls(JR): Original size with 40 strips and Junior size with 20 strips. Junior Jelly Rolls (JJR) are offered in Bella Solids and Grunge and are perfect to use as a coordinate to your favorite print Jelly Roll or to use as a background. Original size Jelly Rolls are available with each collection. A Moda Jelly Roll is 2.5" wide from the OUTSIDE points of the pinked edges. The pinked edge creates a bit of fuzz, so roll the top and bottom of the jelly roll with a lint roller before you untie it. One of the best things about a Jelly Roll is that it's all the prints of one collection so it all looks great together. With the fabric already cut and coordinated, all that's left to do is sew together the strips into a fantastic quilt top. When pressing, use steam! It will help to realign the fibers of your strips, relaxing and loosening the curl that has been forced into them by being rolled up. Press open the 2 strips and they should measure 4.5" wide from pinked POINT to pinked POINT. If they do not, figure out what you need to adjust so that your seam allowance is 1/4". Moda Fabrics has designated every 3rd Saturday in September as National Sew a Jelly Roll Day! We are encouraging collectors to tear open a Moda Jelly Roll and make something for themselves, as a gift or for charity! It can be a quilt or a tote bag, a pillow case, something to wear - it doesn't matter so long as we seize the day and celebrate the joy of being a maker. The National Sew A Jelly Roll Day Event will be advertised in national magazines and promoted on all Moda social media channels.
