A «best-of» is a compilation of the very finest products; as you read this new edition of MO by Silmo, we bring you a best-of frames, brands, design, a (non-exhaustive) overview of the very best in design from the optics and eyewear sector. Retaining the same format as the previous edition, dedicated to the trends previewed before the exhibition and cemented since then, here, we offer an additional perspective on the concept of accessories, of which eyewear has become a major feature in today’s on-trend look: whether optical frames or sunglasses, glasses have become an integral component, incorporated into the seasonal cycles of the fashion industry. We invite you to peruse the 2014 fashion colour palettes from the CFC (French Colour Committee) pairing frames chromatically, mirroring their increasingly richer and sophisticated tones. We also encourage you to either take a first look or be reacquainted with the Style on View clip presented in the Fashion Style area at the exhibition: a dynamic way of soaking up the pairings between ontrend contours and accessories. We hope you enjoy reading and viewing…

Chromatic meetings

This is a time for intersections, inventive propagations, fertile blends of cultures. The French Colour Committee unveils colour ranges that promote creative encounters across four distinct themes. Positive encounters fostering calm and dialogue, far removed from the din and dissonance of today’s world. A spectacle of colour that delights in paradoxes and is loaded with emotion. Colours that weave a path somewhere between serenity and festivity. Encounters between mattes and changing tones, neutral and intense shades, mineral, vegetable and synthetic effects. Metallic pairings showing colours off to maximum effect.

Silent encounters: peace and harmony offer an invitation to rest and to meditate... illuminating delicately coloured neutral shades and elegant whites with greyish, blond, silver and gold hues. Graphic touches combine with aristocratic brown for a raw or refined sophistication.

Frames are out to make a good impression: real materials or imitation textile weaves, fabrics incorporated or superimposed, surfaces reveal a variety of bright motifs and prints that create imagined and illusory effects. Glasses adopt a seductive air...

Men’s fashion steers a course between the formal and informal, culminating in a relaxed, comfortable, perfect fit. Men’s glasses come in iconic styles, harmonious contours with a definite hit of boldness, with the key feature being to accentuate the collection’s variety and creativity.

In an interplay of geometric shapes and clear bold colours, glasses are given free rein, featuring playful, highly sporty or pseudo-classic lines. Not to mention lenses which at times have a real neon feel.

At this latest edition of Silmo, an original new forum called «Fashion Style» brought together for the very first time all the fashion brands on show at the exhibition: close on a hundred labels showcased in a very on-trend setting. In this unique area, an audiovisual presentation unveiled the latest trends in design, fashion and eyewear, conveying information through images and key words, a notto-be missed clip and one to watch again and again.
