A yearbook is customarily dedicated to some individual whom the students or yearbook staff wish to recognize in a special way. Because the members of the 1968 RAMBLER feel that everyone connected with Martin Luther Academy is worthy of this recognition, no individual has been selected. This RAMBLER is dedicated to all parents who are sending their sons and daughters to Martin Luther Academy, a school where the Word of God rules supreme. Because of the extra sacrifices these parents are making, their children are receiving a Christ-centered education, and our Wisconsin Synod will have more pastors, teachers, and dedicated laymen.

Phlogistons is a science club open to academy and college students interested in science. The Phlogistons Club sponsors an annual science fair and a photo club as its main projects. Interested spectators examine exhibits in the annual science fair.

TOURNEY HELD AT MLA MLA hosted the Lutheran Invitational Tournament this year. The tournament was held in the new Luther Memorial Union. The participating teams which came from three states--Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota--were Manitowoc Lutheran, Northwestern Preps, Winnebago Lutheran, Onalaska Lutheran, Lakeside Lutheran, Waupun Christian, NWLA of Mobridge, and our own MLA. The trophy winners were Manitowoc Lutheran, consolation; Northwestern Preps, third place; Waupun Christian, runners-up; and MLA, championship. Paul puts it up for the Rams.

The Lyceum programs this year were held during the regular school hours instead of at night which had been the case in past years. The lyceums were held on the stage in the new Luther Memorial Union. Featured were programs which were both educational and entertaining. The students enjoyed the programs; these were "Africa," "Birds of Prey, " "Musical Trio," "Liquid Air, " "World of Robert Benchley," and "Space Ball and Trampoline."

ONE AND ALL REJOICE Our Christmas concerts this year were held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church because the auditorium was being remodeled. One concert was held Monday night, December 18, and two concerts were held the following evening. The Symphony Band, under the direction of Mr. Charles Luedtke, played some Yuletide selections. The combined academy choir and chorus also participated in song.

LUTHER MEMORIAL UNION This beautiful multi-purpose building, . 路 erected as part of the Mis sio Dei effort, was dedicated to the glory of God on April 28, 1968. Ground was broken for this building on July 3 0, 19 6 6, and cornerstone laying took place on July 16, 路 1967. The . building was opened for use in early 1968. The students of MIA thank the members of our Wisconsin Synod for providing this much-needed building.

The Academy Faculty-Graduate Banquet was held at the Orchid Inn in Sleepy Eye. After a delicious smorgasbord, the group enjoyed hearing the Class Will and Class Prophecy and seeing pictures of campus life during the past four years. James Towner served as Master of Ceremonies, and the "Dirty Dozen" and the "6-8 1 s" provided entertainment in song.

LUTHER STUDENTS ENJOY BANQUETS "The Orient" was the theme for the annual Junior-Senior tea, held on May 18 on the stage of Luther Memorial Union. Surrounded by murals depicting Oriental scenes, the shoeless girls seated on the floor enjoyed the fortune cookies, egg rolls, and tea served by the hostess. A world style show provided entertainment for the group.
Chinese food is enjoyed by all.

Throughout the year, students have been going somewhere, doing something. MLA is a busy place. Now the hurry is over; the halls are empty while MLA rests for the summer. The staff has been busy looking for a picture here, thinking of the right caption there. We have tried to capture the highlights of the 6768 school year at MLA in pictures. We also hope that you will excuse any errors we have made in this, the first yearbook of MIA. We thank all those who have made this yearbook a reality.
