JARED OCANA VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH - 1ST YEAR Jared Ocana enters his first year as a volunteer assistant coach at Utah. He will be working with the jumps and short sprints groups for the track and field team. Ocana, who is from Layton, Utah, competed in the long jump, triple jump and sprinting events on the Utah State men’s track and field team from 2001-05. A threeyear letterwinner, Ocana earned academic all-conference honors three times and was a two-time recipient of the Joe E. Whitesides Scholar-Athlete award. In addition to coaching at Utah, Ocana is currently the Mental Skills Coach for the World University Games USA Snowboarding team.

Ocana served as the associate head coach at Westminster College from 201013. During his time at Westminster, Ocana helped start the track and field program and developed three NAIA national qualifiers Ocana’s coaching experience includes three years at the Utah 5A high school level. Ocana earned a bachelor of science in journalism and communication form Utah State in 2006. He also earned a master of science in exercise and sport science with an emphasis on psychosocial aspects from Utah in 2010.
