RUNNING BACKS

Nebraska running backs are all-purpose threats in the Nebraska offense • Nebraska running backs have thrived in the Huskers’ diverse attack. Senior I-back Roy Helu Jr. enters 2010 with 2,159 career rushing yards to rank 22nd on the NU career rushing list. Helu has another 49 catches and 455 receiving yards and is poised to crack the top 10 on both NU’s career rushing and career all-purpose yardage lists. • Helu averages 5.5 yards per carry in his career, and led the conference in yards per carry in 2008. • I-back Marlon Lucky completed his Nebraska career in 2008 ranked 17th on the Huskers’ all-time rushing list, fourth in school history in receptions and his 4,214 career allpurpose yards is fourth all-time at Nebraska. • Nebraska running backs have produced five 30-plus catch seasons in the past six years. • Nebraska I-backs have 26, 1,000-yard rushing seasons in school history, including 1,147 yards by Helu in 2009.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends • Nate Swift finished his Nebraska career in 2008 as the Huskers’ all-time leader in receptions, while ranking second in season receptions, season receiving yards, career receiving yards, season touchdown receptions and career touchdown receptions. • The Nebraska passing game distributes the ball as well as any offense in the country. Nebraska had 20 players catch a pass in 2009, including nine wide receivers, five tight ends, five I-backs and a fullback. • In 2009, Niles Paul averaged 19.9 yards on his 40 receptions. Paul’s average yards per catch was tops in the Big 12 and third best in school history among players with at least 20 catches. Paul had nine reception of at least 35 yards and his 796 receiving yards were fifth on the NU single-season list. • Mike McNeill returns for his senior season with 61 career catches. McNeill, who will play a hybrid receiver/tight end role in 2010 is just four receptions from the school record for receptions by a tight end. His 32 catches in 2008 were an NU tight end record. • In 2008, receivers Nate Swift and Todd Peterson recorded the second- and thirdhighest reception totals in school history with 63 and 62 receptions, respectively. • Nebraska players have produced nine 40-catch seasons in the last five years.
