MHEG Appoints Kellner and Hayes as New Board of Director Members

Midwest Housing Equity Group, Inc. (MHEG) announces the appointment of Kirk Kellner and Frank Hayes to its Board of Directors. Chairman Richard Schenck welcomed Kellner at the board’s quarterly meeting in June and Hayes at the September meeting.

“The addition of Kirk and Frank to the Board of Directors brings significant skill sets to MHEG. Both of them have a documented track record of helping their communities through their direct involvement with organizations that help the underserved,” said Schenck. “They will be a great addition to the MHEG Board as we continue to meet the expectations of our stakeholders.”

Kellner is Regional President for Wells Fargo’s TriState Region where he is responsible for overseeing community bank operations, including over 600 team members and 50 banking stores, across his region of Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. In addition to the MHEG Board of Directors, Kellner serves on the Board of the Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation, Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and the Joslyn Art Museum. He serves on the Advisory Board for Habitat for Humanity and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. He is also a Trustee for the University of Nebraska Foundation.

Said Kellner upon his appointment, “Wells Fargo has a long history of working with the Midwest Housing Equity Group on our shared goals of creating quality affordable housing and revitalizing communities throughout the Midwest. I am truly honored to be joining this board and to furthering its mission and vision for strong communities and a better tomorrow.”

Hayes is the majority owner and President of Hayes & Associates, LLC, a CPA and consulting firm he founded in 1983. He has 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, including previous roles as the director of the tax department at Grant Thorton CPAs and as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service. In addition to his new role on MHEG’s Board of Directors, Hayes serves as a member of the Mutual of Omaha Bank Board, the Companion Life Insurance Board, the Creighton University Board of Trustees, the Omaha Business Ethics Alliance, the Great Plains Black Museum and Kaneko.

“It is an honor to be asked to serve on the Board of Directors of Midwest Housing Equity Group” remarked Hayes. “Safe, affordable housing is a basic human need and I am acutely aware of the importance of affordable housing. As a child, my family was a beneficiary of programs sponsored by the Department of Housing & Urban Development that provided us an opportunity to live in safe, secure affordable housing. My role as a Board member will allow me to use my background and experience to directly support the mission of MHEG to change
