F R I DAY 1 0 / 1 2 | ROBERT WALTER’S

20TH CONGRESS

As a founding member of the Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walter is no stranger to the get-down grooves of the ’60s and ’70s. His piano, Hammond B3 and Fender Rhodes have seen extensive touring and collaboration with many prominent artists, but when he’s not busy being a jazz-funk keyboardist, Walter ďŹ lls his days working on movie scores. Moe’s Alley; $12 adv/$15 door; 9pm.

Jane’s Jane’ s Addiction Addiction

WEDNESDAY 10/17 | JANE’S ADDICTION First formed in Los Angeles in 1985 (and broken up and reformed twice since), Jane’s Addiction was one of the ďŹ rst bands to emerge from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain mainstream media attention and commercial success, and subsequently served as an inspiration for other bands of the era, including Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins and Tool. Some of their best known songs include “Jane Says,â€? “Been Caught Stealingâ€? and “Just Because.â€?

W E D N ES DAY 10 / 17 | MATISYAHU While I was watching Matisyahu at Harmony by the Bay a couple of weeks ago, I wondered, “Did Matisyahu shave and get into dubstep, or am I listening to Beats Antique? Alas, it’s all true—the famously hairy king of Jewish reggaerock-hip-hop has been unscruffed. He still has the wall of trippy guitar sound, and the intense performance style. So mostly, he’s still the Matthew Miller we’ve come to know, puzzle over and sometimes even love. Catalyst; 8pm; $22-$27.
