Brendan is a tall, handsome auto-mechanic who desperately needs his career-driven wife to notice him again. After his wife claims that he has dirty hands, he timidly walks into a Vietnamese-owned nail salon and braves the jeers of women workers. Tam, a newly-hired manicurist, tends to his hands and civilly listens to his confessions. Turns out her healing touch is priceless.

Best friends Ziva, Gregor, and Andrej set out on a road trip through the bewitching Slovenian countryside. Digging into the playful demeanors of their teenage years, the three relive memories of the past, avoiding the truths of their new realities. Andrej, their gay friend, buries his feelings of animosity with wisecracks and mischief. Gregor, a soldier scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan, seems curiously confused about his ideals since joining the army. Ziva, who tells the boys she plans to study abroad next semester, ultimately proves unable to keep up with their facade of ignorance. An enchanting look at the journey of friendship, this film captures the spirit of youth and innocence. – Taara Khalilnaji

Why has Twitter become such a sensation? That is the question filmmaker Tan Siok seeks to discover as she sets off on a cross-country quest to talk to all kinds of Tweeters. Along the way we meet a porn star, a homeless woman, a prostitute and lots of everyday folk just having a little fun.

Fidel Castro not only wanted to revolutionize Cuba’s politics, but also its architecture. Taking over a bourgeoisie golf course, Castro and Che Guevara commissioned three visionary architects to build an innovative art school campus.

Shot in a dual screen mode so the audience can actually interact with the cast and crew during the movie, Twittamentary emphasizes the joys of this technological phenomenon. But the film also poses important questions facing our society, such as the danger of overuse and alienation from actual personal contact. The result is a cinematic experience like few others. – Sandy Wolf

As construction commenced, the buildings were admired worldwide for their creativity. But political forces and Castro’s priorities changed. Students were forced to learn in half completed and decaying classrooms. As the decades passed, Castro realized that an architectural wonder was his to showcase, and once again, the three architects began to realize their unfulfilled dreams <UÄUPZOLK :WHJLZ reminds us that no matter how one tries to defeat it, true art will live forever. – Sandy Wolf

Despite the meaning of Tam’s Vietnamese name, “inner strength,” she is fragile and broken. She needs someone or something to help her pick up the pieces. This film pays tribute to filial Asian culture, while it seduces with its sensuous scenes of forbidden fantasies. Touch truly teaches the tale of love. – Athena Chow
