WASSERMAN PARK IMPROVEMENTS It has been a busy couple of months at Wasserman Park with lots of construction activities taking place throughout the Park. Over the past few months Parks & Recreation have installed a new permanent water line down to the Function Hall, added a new heating system to the building and over the next few weeks will be adding a sprinkler system as well. Once this project is complete, the Function Hall will be available for rentals on a year-round basis to the general public. These improvements will also allow us to begin providing year-round recreational programming at Wasserman Park. In addition, we tore down the last two condemned buildings that had remained in the Park. One of the buildings was a cabin by the waterfront and the other was the Wasserman House Residence which sat on top of the sledding hill. Both buildings had been in significant disrepair for a number of years and had been closed for the last 6 years as they were cost prohibitive to try and repair them. These were the last two buildings that we anticipate needing to take down in the Park. In the meantime, we are continuing to update the remaining 15 buildings in the Park. Last Fall, Eagle Scout Candidate, Jacob Parker, built the Park a new Archery Range shooting platform which is located near the Park’s exit and is visible from Naticook Road. This new Archery Range will provide a tremendous benefit for Naticook Day Camp and its archery program. It is also open to the Merrimack residents for use. We also have another Eagle Scout project coming to Wasserman Park this spring. Eagle Scout Candidate, Nick LaRoche, will be building and installing new solar powered light posts that will be placed along the pathway from the Function Hall uphill towards the Visitor’s Parking Lot. In the next couple of months, we have several new projects that will be coming to fruition. We will be going out to bid for the construction of the new dog park at Wasserman Park. This new dog park will be located behind the Visitor Parking Lot and we are anticipating a grand opening around late June or early July. For the most up to date details about the Merrimack Dog Park, visit their website at www.merrimackdogpark.com. Plans are also in the works for the construction of a Disc Golf Course at Wasserman Park. Funds are being privately raised by a group of residents to build the course and it will become a recreational amenity available to all Merrimack residents. They have a fundraising site for anyone who are interested to make a donation. Please visit their crowdfunding website at: www.indiegogo.com/projects/wasserman-parkdisc-golf-course-merrimack-nh#/.

SUPER SOCCER STARS All program lessons will be held at Wasserman Park. FUN IN THE SUN SUMMER CAMP—Our class format is developed to give our budding soccer stars a familiar framework in which they can excel from class to class. Our classes begin with a welcome, incorporating a song for the early stages age groups (2 year olds – 1st Grade) and a cheer for the Independent stages (2nd – 12th Grade). The classes then kick off with a dynamic warm-up followed by muscle-warming stretches to get everyone ready for action. The bulk of each class focuses on skill development activities and games which include progression, pressure and direction with an ending point (i.e. goal or end line). Skill development is the central piece of the class, focusing on the basic skills which are integral to the game of soccer (i.e. dribbling, passing, shooting, defending and shielding) to optimize the experience for each child. Every session culminates in a scrimmage game (adapted variations for younger age groups) to familiarize each child with the structure of a game setting, while always encouraging our players with positive reinforcement.
