EDITOR’S LETTER BIAN ‘BEE’ LI SHARES HER THOUGHTS

Dear Readers, As I write this, I’m getting cabin fever. After the usual harsh Chicago winter, the sun is out, the temperature is up and people are coming out of hibernation and flocking outside. As we enjoy the warmer weather, we remember how much we appreciate the simple pleasures of Spring- the greening of the grass, wearing sundresses, going barefoot in the park, soaking up the sun, changing our wardrobe, and a livening of spirits as we look forward to being outside and active. These casual comforts are what we tried to capture in our April issue, from the Tuscan garden inspired dresses of Cettina to au naturale beauty hues to the happy childhood memories and feminine nuances evoked in the scents of master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

With Earth Day around the corner, we take time to appreciate our environment as we check out the many green initiatives around the city and spotlight the women who are working hard to make the planet a better place for other women, from rape survivor Angela Rose’s courageous advocacy of victims of sexual violence to handbag designer Tytania Rose’s founding of The Nang Fah Project to help young girls in Thailand. Socially-conscious, environmentally-aware, substantive, casual, fun, flirty, pink, coral, green, floral…April is all these things and more. Now I’m off to enjoy the sunshine. Till next time… Be good.
