for their loving care. Thelma was a charter member of the Catholic Church of The Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, where a Christian Wake was held Wednesday, June 16, 2010. The family received friends one hour prior to service. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the church. Graveside services were held at Forest Lawn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church building fund.

William J. Porter, “Bill”, 67, of Ashland, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Porter; and a granddaughter, Virginia “Ginny” Porter. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite V. Porter; a daughter, Mary Porter Studebaker (Dana); a son, William V. Porter; a granddaughter, Samantha Louise Studebaker; four brothers, Robert, Brian, Kenneth and David Porter; four sisters, Mary Novak, Monica Walsh, Andrea Porter and Eleanor Porter. Mr. Porter attended St. Charles Seminary for three years and graduated from Gonzaga High School and also the Catholic University. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired as a captain with 14 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and also served as a Boy Scout leader. Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 105 S. Snead St., Ashland. Victoria Caroline Sikorski Reid, 90, of Glen Allen, went home June 11, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Lt. Col. John M. Reid as well as three brothers and three sisters. Reid and his wife, Donna, of Manassas and J. Scott Reid and his wife, Lisa, of Glen Allen. Grandma Vicki to five grandchildren, Chris Reid of Fairfax, Alex Reid, Grayson Reid, Emily Snaman and Austin Snaman of Glen Allen; one great-granddaughter, Emma Bernardin of Glen Allen; one grand bulldog; and to many more whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Vicki’s passions included competitive golf, cooking and her world class shell collection, to name a few. Her cremains will be inurned next to Johnny’s at Arlington National Cemetery on Aug. 11, 2010, as well as spread on the North Shore of Oahu- her earthly paradise for three years.

Alma Stamper Satterwhite , 72, of Mechanicsville, went to sleep June 18, 2010 awaiting the resurrection. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mamie Stamper; and brother, Howard. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother who is survived by her husband of 50 years, Floyd E. Satterwhite Sr.; son, Floyd E. Satterwhite Jr. and his wife, Lisa, and their four children, Mackie, Josh, Floyd III and Katie; two daughters, Lois Satterwhite and Mayme Satterwhite; four sisters, Earliene Stamper, Jean Sprinkle, Eula Schrewsbury and Barbara Moody; and nieces and nephews. Alma was a nurse in the Richmond area for 40 years and a member of the United Church of God. The family received friends Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Bliley’s - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where funeral services were held Monday, June 21, 2010. Final services were held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, W.Va. Graveside services were held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bluewell, W.Va.
